You will be joining a new team that brings together the newsroom, technology, product, design and data to evolve how we deliver our journalism in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
As a Data Analyst for the Wall Street Journal, you will build the analytical foundations that shape how we understand our readers, evaluate impact and identify opportunities for innovation. You’ll transform raw data into clear insights and tools that empower decision-making across both the newsroom and the broader Dow Jones organization. You will report to SVP - Consumer Products
Collaborate deeply with newsroom, product and technology partners to understand their goals and translate them into clear analytical requirements
Work closely with data engineers and data collection teams to ensure data is captured, cleaned, structured and maintained in ways that support reliable analysis at scale
Analyze complex datasets to uncover meaningful patterns, provide actionable insights and drive recommendations that lead to measurable business and audience impact
Build intuitive dashboards, reports and data products using tools like Tableau or Looker Studio that make insights accessible and immediately useful to stakeholders
Continuously improve our data ecosystem, identifying opportunities to streamline processes, enhance reporting and strengthen the integrity of our datasets
Safeguard data quality and consistency, partnering across teams to improve accuracy, resolve issues and foster trust in our metrics
Communicate clearly and confidently, translating technical analyses into compelling stories that resonate with both technical and non-technical audiences
1-2 years’ experience in a similar role
Owned your projects proactively and coordinated with multiple stakeholders
Experience with SQL and knowledge of Excel/Sheets. Familiarity with Github, Python/R.
Experience with Tableau, Looker, or similar data visualizations tools and techniques
Used data for storytelling
Experience with Google Analytics 4, Adobe Analytics, and other web analytics tools
Undergraduate degree -OR- equivalent work experience in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related discipline
