Ottawa based Indium Phosphide and Silicon based Photonic integrated circuit development, both design execution and test/verification. Work directly with the Lumentum design team creating the next generation of optical components enabling optical computing and accelerating the Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning transformation.

The Opportunity

Work term May 05, 2025 – August 22, 2025, 4 months. Open to 8 month work term.

Responsibilities

The Optical Device Development Engineer responsibilities would include but not be limited to the following:

  • Develop and implement test algorithms, analyze data to extract critical performance parameters from experimental chip designs.
  • Optimize simulation models comparing anticipated device performance with measured data.
  • Create software tools to automate data analysis.

Education Qualifications

  • Graduate student with completed Bachelor of Science or Engineering
  • Working towards a bachelors degree in Science, Engineering, or equivalent.

Desired Skills & Qualifications

  • Training on physical optics, materials science, particularly semiconductor carrier transport and electrooptical physics, and statistical analysis.
  • Software programming skills in any programming language, ideal candidate also has experience with Matlab and statistical analysis packages such as SAS JMP.
