Job Description:

POS Systems Engineer I

About the Role

RaceTrac is seeking a POS Systems Engineer I to support and enhance the technology that powers our retail stores. In this role, you will work hands‑on with point‑of‑sale and payment systems to ensure our stores can reliably process transactions and serve customers without disruption.

This is a technical, production‑support role focused on real‑world retail systems—not a business analyst or script‑only QA position. You will troubleshoot live issues, manage POS configurations and menus, and support system upgrades across a large, multi‑site retail environment.

This position is ideal for someone who has experience supporting POS or retail technology and wants deeper exposure to production systems, payments, and systems integration.

What You’ll Do

  • Support, troubleshoot, and maintain POS systems, pin pads, self‑checkout kiosks, and fuel‑related payment technology used in RaceTrac stores.

  • Investigate and resolve POS and payment issues in production environments, focusing on uptime, performance, and reliability.

  • Manage and deploy POS menus, configurations, and software updates across multiple locations.

  • Support payment and transaction flows, ensuring accurate and secure processing.

  • Assist with system integrations across the retail technology ecosystem.

  • Participate in POS enhancements, upgrades, and new technology rollouts.

  • Create and maintain technical documentation, operating procedures, and support runbooks.

  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and cross‑functional teams to resolve issues and improve system stability.

Required Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of experience supporting or maintaining retail or hospitality POS systems (e.g., Aloha, Toast, ARBOS, or similar).

  • Experience with POS payments, transaction flows, and related software components.

  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.

  • Ability to communicate technical issues clearly, both verbally and in writing.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field (preferred but not required).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting multi‑site retail environments.

  • Familiarity with fuel systems or pump technology.

  • Exposure to system integrations or API‑based workflows.

  • Basic experience with automation, monitoring, or performance testing tools.

Why Join RaceTrac

  • Work on mission‑critical systems that support high‑volume, real‑time retail transactions.

  • Gain hands‑on experience with POS, payments, and production systems at enterprise scale.

  • Collaborate closely with experienced engineers and retail technology teams.

  • Build a strong foundation for growth into POS platform, payments, or retail systems engineering roles.
