About This Opportunity 

The School of Biomedical Sciences is seeking a reliable and dedicated Storesperson to join a small, collaborative team supporting the effective and efficient operation of our goods receiving area. The Storesperson role is client-facing and would suit someone with a strong orientation to client service and problem solving.

Key responsibilities will include: (Maximum 3-4 points)

  • Receiving, unpacking, storing, manual handling, and disposal of a variety of consumables, equipment, and chemicals in line with statutory guidelines.

  • Log maintenance jobs, follow up on outstanding work, and assist with school-wide maintenance and auditing activities.

  • Perform ad hoc test tagging of electrical equipment and other duties as directed by the Facilities Manager.

About You

  • Relevant work-related experience or a certificate level qualification with post-certificate work experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education and training.

  • Demonstrated ability to accept responsibility, work in an autonomous manner and exercise initiative.

  • Ability to meet deadlines, prioritise competing work demands and work in an efficient and well-organised manner under pressure.

  • A strong orientation to the provision of a high level of client service with sound communication skills, and the ability to positively engage with and relate to a wide range of stakeholders.

  • Desirable: Experience in working within a research environment with knowledge of policies and procedures relating to Occupational Health and Safety, Risk Assessments, and Dangerous Goods Regulations.

The successful candidate is required to hold a valid and current driver’s licence and may be required to complete pre-employment checks, including the right to work in Australia.
