Freese and Nichols is currently searching for an experienced CAD Technician in our El Paso, Texas Office.

As CAD Technician, you will utilize FNI CAD software, standards, and equipment to prepare and revise technical plans and specifications while working on innovative Stormwater Projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Work as part of a project team under the direction of the Design Task Lead to prepare preliminary and final plan and profile drawings for municipal stormwater and roadway infrastructure projects.
  • Understand and apply client design criteria and standards in the preparation of technical plans and specifications with minimal input from an engineer.
  • Interpret sketches and markups from the Design Task Lead or client and efficiently incorporate updates and revisions into design plans.
  • Perform quality control on deliverables to ensure all comments from the Design Task Lead and client are accurately incorporated into plans and specifications.
  • Adhere to FNI CAD document control standards and established file organization structures.
  • Review and incorporate data from topographic survey and subsurface utility engineering deliverables in support of the Design Task Lead.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, including performing earthwork calculations and developing or modifying digital terrain models.
  • Collaborate with other CAD staff and demonstrate a willingness to learn new skills in support of FNI’s continuous improvement objectives.
  • Maintain current knowledge of CAD software and related training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned; responsibilities may change as business needs evolve.

Qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience working with AutoCAD Civil 3D. 

  • Practical experience developing design plan and profile drawings and performing earthwork calculations. 

  • Aptitude for mathematics, reading drawings and maps, and a moderate degree of computer and CAD software competency.

  • High School diploma or equivalent. 

  • Written and verbal communication, including ability to convert information into drawings.

Preferred:

  • Associate degree in CAD drafting and design, or AutoDesk
