Job Description Summary

The Casing/Shell Technical Leader within the Steam Turbine Engineering team has the full design lifecycle ownership of the high pressure and intermediate pressure ST shell casings component technology. This is a critical role demonstrating ownership, accountability, and implementing LEAN to achieve continuous improvement and improved customer outcomes.

Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Embrace and demonstrate (lead by example) GE Vernova Way within the framework of S-Q-D-C.

- EHS/Safety skillset in support of design, manufacturing, and field activities, i.e. lifting and transportation.

- Lead shell casing engineers allocated across NPI, new unit, and service requisitions value stream teams in execution of NPI, OTR, and RTS activities.

- Lead and mentor global team of shell casing Engineers, enabling their technical and career growth.

- Embrace the role of customer interface via Installation/Constructability improvement initiatives.  Enhance and optimize customer documentation to improve quality, customer usability, and reduce cycle time from project release.

- Follow NPI Tollgate Process from Conceptual Design thru field validation for responsible component designs across the full spectrum of Gas Power turbine configurations. 

-Review and lead appropriate engineering analysis to ensure robust designs that meet all required CTQs. 
-Drive technology advancements from a Shaftline System, subsystem, component and material / life vantage points. 
-Work seamlessly with cross-functional teams (Drafting/Sourcing/Manufacturing) to execute and deliver team PLM tasks on-time with quality. 
-Partner with Product Line, Application Engineering, Product Service, and SILs to drive platform strategy for product structuring and technology enhancements. 
-Identify and leverage other external team best practices, across Gas Power Engineering to drive productivity and technology.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

-Bachelor's degree in Engineering. 
-
6+ years engineering experience

DESIRED:

- Advanced engineering degree. 

-4+ years experience in Steam Turbine component design, including ST design process & procedures.

-Demonstrated excellence applying fundamentals of Mechanical Design, including material properties, statics, strength of materials, fluid dynamics, lifing methods related to fatigue (LCF & HCF) and creep.

-Finite Element Analysis (ANYSIS) capability. 

-Six Sigma Green Belt / Black Belt Certified (GE Employees only). 

-System Design experience. 

-Demonstrated clear thinker, with ability to manage conflict and derive solutions to complicated problems.

-Demonstrated Project leadership skills with the mindset to handle several competing tasks.

-Familiarity with the full manufacturing process including: fabrications, machining, and factory assembly/ testing practices, specifically as applied to power generation equipment.
