Job Description:

Position summary

The Tax Supervisor is responsible for all tax matters for Indonesia including ensuring that all tax compliance, audit and reporting requirements in Indonesia are completed in a timely and accurate manner. The Tax Supervisor will represent 3M to tax authorities on any tax controversy and manage all in-country tax governance and audit activities.

Reporting to:  Tax Manager, South Asia (based in Singapore)

Key responsibilities

Lead and manage all aspects of Indonesian tax compliance, controversy, planning and reporting.

  • Work with external service provider to prepare and review annual income tax returns (2 legal entities in Indonesia)
  • Keep informed on indirect tax matters by partnering with the indirect regional team and shared service centres to ensure ownership of the Indonesian tax position across all relevant taxes
  • Work with the local team to ensure monthly withholding tax returns (Article 4/21/23/26) are filed
  • Manage tax audits and relationship with Tax Authorities, with support from external tax agent/advisor as needed.
  • Support US GAAP income tax accounting and reporting and cash tax forecasting
  • Keep up-to-date with legislation developments and communicate impacts to the team
  • Support outsourced service provider to prepare and review transfer pricing documentation
  • Partner closely with relevant stakeholders such as finance controller and managing director
  • Support all local tax matters relating to business transformation and supply chain projects and any other planning projects
  • Provide timely updates to the tax leadership team on all relevant tax topics impacting the Indonesian activities
  • Manage the local team to effectively and efficiently perform/manage the Indonesian tax responsibilities

Qualifications

Educational qualification:

  • Finance/accountancy degree; emphasis in Taxation preferred.

Required work experience/knowledge:

  • A minimum of 5-10 years of relevant tax experience, including broad-based technical tax knowledge and experience
  • Candidate with a combination of big 4 accounting firm and commercial tax experience in a MNC is preferred.
  • In depth working knowledge of Indonesia direct and indirect taxation
  • Basic understanding of transfer pricing principles
  • Tax audit management experience
  • US GAAP tax accounting (current and deferred taxes) knowledge and/or experience
  • Team management
  • Familiarity with ERP (SAP) is preferred

Personal skill set:

  • Self-starter team player with ability to work independently, problem solving / solution-oriented sense of ownership, ability to think outside the box is preferred.
  • Effective in managing work priorities to meet timelines.
  • Ability to communicate in a clear and effective manner. Good influencing and interpersonal skills.
