About the role
The Pathway to Practice program (PPP) offers Registered Nurses currently working in other healthcare sectors the opportunity to return to the hospital setting after a short absence of up to 2 years, or to enter the hospital setting from their current subacute/non-hospital role.
12-month full-time program will consist of two clinical rotations, across a variety of services within St Vincent’s Hospital and Sacred Heart Health Service.

This unique initiative at St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney aims to support professional growth while helping participants develop new skills and clinical expertise in a nurturing, learning-focused environment, where you will be supported and encouraged every step of the way.
Offering extended orientation, weekly CPD sessions, clinical skill sessions and supervision and one additional day off per month.
About you
Current Registration as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) without conditions or notations with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
Equivalent of a minimum 12 months full-time Australian Registered nursing experience in the subacute/non-hospital sector, e.g., community nursing, aged care, mental health or primary care.
A Registered Nurse returning to practice in the hospital acute setting after an absence of between 1 – 2 years. Must not be currently employed in or have worked in the acute/hospital nursing sector in the last 12 months.
An overseas trained Registered Nurse who has met AHPRA requirements for registration as Registered Nurse in Australia and has at least 12 months full time acute experience in their country of origin, and less than 12 months nursing experience in Australia. 12 months full time service is equivalent to 1982 hours of paid work.
Demonstrated ability to deliver high quality patient care within a multidisciplinary health care team.
Demonstrated effective time management skills and ability to prioritise competing workloads within a complex environment.
Demonstrated evidence of integration of theoretical knowledge and clinical skills, critical thinking and analysis in their daily practice as a registered nurse.
Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills.
