The Pre-Sales Cisco Specialist at Ingram Micro acts as a trusted advisor to partners and customers, providing technical expertise, solution design, and sales support for Cisco technologies. This role bridges the gap between sales and technical implementation by recommending best-fit solutions across networking, security, collaboration, and data center portfolios. The individual will collaborate closely with internal sales teams, Cisco representatives, and channel partners to drive revenue growth, enable partners, and ensure successful solution positioning.
What You’ll Do
- Partner with sales teams to understand customer requirements and position Cisco solutions that align with business and technical needs
- Provide pre-sales technical support including solution design, bill of materials (BOM) creation, and proposal development
- Conduct product demonstrations, technical presentations, and partner enablement sessions
- Support deal qualification and act as a subject matter expert (SME) for Cisco solutions (e.g., networking, security, collaboration, data center)
- Collaborate with Cisco account teams to align on strategy, promotions, and opportunity development
- Assist partners with architecture design, proof of concepts (POCs), and solution validation
- Stay up to date on Cisco technologies, certifications, and competitive landscape
- Support RFP/RFI responses with strong technical articulation and solution alignment
- Ensure high levels of partner satisfaction through responsive technical support and consultation
What You Bring to the Role
- Requires broad theoretical knowledge typically acquired through advanced education
- Typically requires a four-year college degree or equivalent experience and 2+ years of functional experience
- 2–3+ years of experience in pre-sales, solutions engineering, or technical consulting roles (preferably within distribution or channel environments)
- Strong expertise in Cisco technologies such as routing & switching, security, wireless, collaboration, and/or data center solutions
- Cisco certifications preferred (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, or higher)
- Proven ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions
- Excellent presentation and communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience working with channel partners, VARs, or managed service providers is highly desirable
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with solution design tools, quoting systems, and CRM platforms
- Self-starter with a collaborative mindset and strong customer focus
