Northrop Grumman, Western Region Manufacturing and Operations, Integration, Test, and Launch, Spacecraft Operations Dept, has an opening for a Manager Engineering Technical Support 2 to join our team of highly qualified and diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, CA.

These are highly dynamic, interactive positions. You will interact with numerous stakeholders including program management, systems engineering, flight hardware design engineers and logistical support services. Outstanding organizational and leadership skills are required to succeed in this role.
In this role you will provide leadership to a diverse team of Spacecraft Engineering Technicians and Test Conductors, supporting all phases of the integration and test of P093 R-Systems hardware. A qualified candidate is expected to be knowledgeable, proficient, and able to lead others in all aspects related to the integration and test of P093 R-Systems hardware. The successful candidate will have demonstrated ability to guide a team through comprehensive process transformations, fostering a culture that embraces change and continuous improvement. The candidate must be comfortable challenging long‑standing work habits, introducing innovative workflows, and rallying team members around challenging performance targets. Success in this role will be measured by the team’s rapid adoption of revised processes, increased flexibility, and consistent delivery against the organization’s evolving strategic objectives.
Job responsibilities will include:
Overseeing the daily prioritization, tasking, resource allocation and execution of your program’s engineering technician crew across a range of production activities
Providing clear direction to engineering technician crews at start and end of each shift and working closely with engineering to anticipate and resolve roadblocks on the shop floor
Serving as first line adjudicator of resource conflicts for the technician teams
Managing indirect, program direct budgets and capital assets
Elevating roadblocks in a timely manner to the appropriate level of program leadership and participating in facilitating problem resolution
Engaging with the functional homerooms to develop sustainable staffing and pipeline planning of engineering technician crews
Conducting Performance Management (PMP) of direct reports, includes compensation (year-end merit, bonus plan participation, equity adjustments), promotions, goal setting, employee development, coaching and real time performance feedback
Engaging section members (includes mentoring, coaching, recognition and rewards and career development/guidance)
Managing all aspects of employee relations including conflict resolution
Promoting an inclusive workplace that fosters community building, removes gender biases, and cultivates strong relationships
Supporting Functional Homeroom initiatives and projects which include process improvement, Event Response Teams, Corrective and Preventive Action implementation, & Proposal efforts.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline plus 5 years of experience in a technical role OR Master’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline plus 3 years of experience in a technical role OR High School Diploma/General Education Diploma (G.E.D) plus 11 years of technical experience.
Proven leadership experience in multi-disciplinary teams, preferably within Integration, Test, and Launch (IT&L) campaigns.
Strong capability in short and longer-term planning—resource allocation, schedule execution, and workforce development.
Extensive technical experience with space vehicle mechanical systems, architecture, and testing procedures.
Excellent communication, decision-making, and conflict resolution skills.
Ability to lead and support dynamic program schedules that may include shift work, weekends, and extended shift hours.
Active Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) clearance required at time of application.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous hands-on familiarity with various assembly and testing phases of P093 R-Systems hardware.
Highly effective communication, collaboration and presentation skills.
Demonstrated experience with developing and leading high performing teams through highly demanding assembly and test environments.
Excellent leadership, strategic thinking, planning, and management abilities.
Proficiency in technical problem solving, root cause analysis, solution development, and change implementation.
