Position Summary
Position performs a variety of duties involved in the operation of Parking and Transportation Services, including assisting motorists, enforcing rules and regulations, assisting with events utilizing Parking and Transportation Services assets, and ensuring parking access equipment is operating effectively.
Please note, the expected hours for this position is 11:00 AM - 7:30 PM Tuesday - Saturday, with a scheduled 30-minute break.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Patrols designated areas, enforcing parking rules and regulations. Issues citations for violations and assist external vendors towing and/or relocating vehicles consistent with University and department policies and guidelines.
- Provides information and assistance to faculty, staff, students, and visitors regarding campus activities, locations, directions, and parking and transportation services, rules, and regulations. Performs all duties associated with the University’s Motorist Assist Program including lock-outs, jump starts, and customer transportation.
- Performs preventative maintenance on equipment and assist supervisor, Maintenance Technician, or vendors with maintenance or repair of equipment. Troubleshoots equipment issues related to both hardware and software failures.
- Assists with special events, including lot and garage closures, space reservations, directing traffic, and setting up barricades and other traffic control equipment.
- Conducts accurate traffic and parking utilization surveys as requested, submitting written reports in a timeline manner. Observes shuttle and bus operations and provide report-outs to supervisor and/or Manager of Shuttle Operations.
- Escalates issues, concerns, and suspicious activity observed while patrolling parking areas to supervisor. Informs supervisor of any maintenance, repair, or replacement needs for equipment and signage.
- Performs other duties as assigned, including on-call coverage and assisting with customer service and dispatch related duties.
Working Conditions
- This position requires considerable standing, walking, and sitting for long periods of time.
- Will perform most activities outdoors and will be exposed to current weather conditions throughout the year.
Preferred Qualifications
- Skill in the safe and efficient operation of appropriate size vehicle.
- Strong customer service and people skills, including ability to de-escalate tense situations in a professional manner.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent high school certification, to include the ability to read and write.
- REQUIRED LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION: Valid driver's license in state of residence and clear driving record.

Salary Range
$17.03 - $24.61 / Hourly
The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
