The role is part of the In-Space Systems business unit, which is focused on development, manufacturing, and operation of Blue Ring to address one of the most compelling challenges in spaceflight today: space mobility. As part of a hardworking team of diverse engineers, you will be exposed to a hardware-rich prototyping environment that allows for rapid design/build iteration and work with a world-class team.

You will be a mission integrator for the Blue Ring spacecraft supporting one or more missions at any given time. You will develop verification and validation plans for the launch vehicle and space vehicle interfaces, serve as the main technical interface between the launch vehicle provider and the Blue Ring team, own requirements between the spacecraft and launch vehicle, and ensure that mission integration deliverables are delivered on time to support the launch date. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Serve as the primary technical liaison between the spacecraft and the launch service provider for assigned missions.
  • Develop SSCMAN 91-710 compliant Missile System Prelaunch Safety Package for vehicle buses and assist external customers with their submissions.
  • Assist in the development and consistent implementation of systems engineering processes.
  • Serve in a systems integration capacity, working with multi-disciplinary teams to develop technical solutions.
  • Create, implement, and validate launch vehicle facing requirements for innovative, first-of-its-kind spacecraft
  • Identify gaps and risks in existing systems engineering processes and recommend improvements.
  • Clearly articulate and present complex technical content to internal and external stakeholders at appropriate technical depths
  • Collaborate across multiple disciplines and space vehicle subsystems to ensure technical readiness for mission milestones
  • Coordinate working groups, review boards, and design reviews with internal and external customers to resolve technical issues or mitigate risks related to mission integration
  • Act as program focal point for day-of-launch coordination with the launch vehicle contractor
  • Ability to lead and manage complex technical projects, ensuring alignment with mission objectives and timelines.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or related engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years expertise in one or more of the following areas:
    • Launch vehicle to payload accommodation
    • Launch system development and integration
    • Payload final integration and/or launch operations
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a highly dynamic, fast-paced environment, with a proactive, self-starting attitude.
  • Strong strategic system thinking skills, with excellent written and oral communication abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
  • Active Top Secret (TS) / Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) security clearance with Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with polygraph
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national
  • Willingness to travel and work extended hours as needed to support launch campaigns and other mission-critical efforts

Preferred Qualifications

  • M.S. degree in a relevant technical field
  • Experience in payload assembly, test, and integration in an ISO 7 clean room environment
  • Proven track record in mission integration execution, particularly NSSL missions and early integration studies
  • Familiarity with operations on the Eastern Range, including designing systems and processes compliant with SSCMAN 91-710 requirements
  • Experience with launch operations, particularly payload processing facilities (PPF) or integrated pad operations
  • Experience with risk management and mitigation strategies in the context of payload integration.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices and emerging technologies in space vehicle integration.


 

Compensation Range for:

CA applicants is $120,060.00-$168,084.00

Other site ranges may differ
