Key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Know and comply with all applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) & Work Instructions (WI).  Create, review, recommend, and revise SOP(s) and Work Instructions (WI) as required.  Assist with procedure training and document appropriately.

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment to established 6S Standards.  Practice safe lifting and carrying in accordance to EH&S guidelines.  Follow lockout and tagout work practices.  Keep all equipment (machines, tools, work stations, and storage units) organized and in good condition.

  • Lead Responsibilities:

    • Maintain an active and visible presence in the Production areas at all times.

    • Assist the Production Supervisor with training and directing daily activities of Production personnel.

    • Serve as “Acting Production Supervisor” as needed. i. e. Vacations, Personal Days, Leaves of Absence etc.

    • Help organize and implement new projects and process improvements.

    • Coordinate assignments and duties of personnel on a daily and monthly schedule with the Production Supervisor.  Adjust Machine Room staffing to meet daily needs.

    • Coordinate Monthly cleanups in assigned GMP areas.

    • Ensure pre-checked jobs are appropriately designated in Staging Database Dashboard.

  • Assist in overseeing the activities of Production employees in assigned rooms (up to 5 rooms), to meet daily needs.

    • Assist the Lead Operator in monitoring set-ups, production runs, and clean-ups.

    • Ensure problems with machine, equipment, or production personnel are communicated to the Production Supervisor.

    • Serve as Material Handler as required.

    • Review batch record paper work during production runs in assigned rooms.

  • Perform SAP duties with an RF device and/or computer:

    • Review PI sheet, and message monitor for errors, make corrections as required.

    • Perform or assist with navigation of transactions with time confirmation, Goods issued, PI sheet, Return to stock, additional requests, and Optel tracksafe for Serialization. 

    • Perform MRB transactions for NOR.

  • Perform and review training as necessary for all Production personnel associated with machine operation, production, and SAP, for each Production room.

  •  Issue Brushes / Hose / and Nozzle sets as required by production schedule.  Return clean sets to proper location in brush room.

  • Perform pre-checks, count labels after Production run is complete, verify equipment for cleanliness and perform reconciliation at end of runs as needed.

  • Maintain a positive working relationship with other departments through communication and offering suggestions to solve problems.  Must share job knowledge, demonstrate pride in skills and abilities, and take ownership of assignments.

  • Be an active member in site improvement Projects, helping to streamline the process, maximize efficiencies, eliminate waste and help implement improvements to achieve company goals. (i.e. Kaizen events, 6S audits, etc.).

  • Support continuous improvement efforts to achieve company goals.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Production Supervisor.

The minimum qualifications for this role are:

  • Must possess knowledge of how to work and lead others in a team environment, also necessary to have good interpersonal skills. 

  • Must possess the ability to be attentive to all functions regarding Production, attendance is an essential requirement, must be able to multi-task.  Computer skills required – SAP, MS Word/Excel, and Human Machine Interface (HMI) Systems.

  • Position functions semi-autonomously and directly reports to the Production Supervisor.  No direct reports, however provides direction to production floor personnel.

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma (or equivalent) is required.  Some college courses, 5 years of Lead Operator experience, and 2 to 4 years of computer experience, preferred.  However, a combination of experience and/or education will be taken into consideration.

  • Ability to read and interpret general business documents.  Ability to write routine reports and general business correspondence.  Ability to work with peers and communicate basic concepts.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.

  • Ability to solve problems with a variety of concrete variables through semi-standardized solutions that require some ingenuity and analysis.  Ability to draw inferences and follow prescribed and detailed procedures to solve moderately complex problems.

  • Heavy physical demand. Continuously lifting/moving heavy weight (more than 60 lbs./27 kgs) materials or strenuous activity.

  • Must be able to stand, walk, stoop, bend, kneel, and climb steps.  May require use of hands and use of arms to lift and scoop.  May require dexterity, reaching and turning of upper body.  May be required to lift or maneuver boxes or containers using lifting equipment as well as physically pushing, rolling or lifting.  May be required to wear personal protective equipment including but not limited to: respiratory protection, safety glasses, hearing protection, safety shoes and protective clothing. 

  • Must be able to stand or sit for extended periods of time.  Requires physical dexterity; twisting and turning of upper torso.  Computer entry/typing. 

  • Physical Demand Strength Rating: Medium Work. 

  • Production/manufacturing environment. Also, must work closely with others.  Generally good working conditions.  Some precautions required to protect oneself such as safety glasses, ear protection, protective clothing, etc.  Injuries improbable except for minor cuts, burns, etc.
