Summary of the position:

This position requires a self-motivated individual to perform several duties within industrial maintenance and plant operations while providing uninterrupted service to the customer.

This position is located onsite in Midland, Michigan.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Plant Maintenance:
    • Responsible for diagnostics and maintenance of industrial machinery, electrical equipment and instrumentation in accordance with diagrams, sketches, technical manuals and standard procedures.
    • Test mechanical and electrical equipment for correct operating conditions and correct any problems found using test equipment, technical drawings and data.
    • Conduct inspections, repair and installation of equipment related to electric power systems, pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical instrumentation.

  • Plant Operations:
    • Must understand the equipment, processes and procedures and the subsequent impact to the customers plant operations. Must be able to make equipment configuration changes to maintain efficient plant production and process uptime.

  • After Hours On call:
    • Participate in rotation for afterhours On-Call status and respond to plant emergencies in accordance with customer required timelines .

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or work equivalent in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering.

Professional experience:

  • Strong computer skills required including proficiency in MS Office.
  • 3-5 years plus experience in mechanical, pneumatics, electrical, PLC, industrial instrumentation and related field.
  • Able to read and understand technical blueprints and electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of micrometers, gauges, and precision measuring devices.
  • Good analytical skills, must be detail oriented.
  • Enthusiastic, cooperative, and positive behavior in a team environment.
  • Must understand and comply with the 5 Cardinal Rules.
  • Required to wear the proper PPE equipment for the work area.
  • Must immediately report injuries or unsafe conditions to the supervisor.
  • Respiratory protection (as required).
  • Complete HAZWAPPER and arc flash/electrical training annually (as required).
  • Complete annual EHS training (respirator and environmental training).
  • Annual hearing conservation program (HCP).

Key behaviors:

  • Lifting over 35 lbs. requires a lifting device, crane/hoist, or assistance from another associate.
  • Must be able to work as a team member and be able to work individually without direct supervision.
  • Physically able to lift, bend, stoop, climb, reaching, kneeling, work in awkward positions, ability to climb ladders, and work from high platforms.
  • Work is performed indoors and outdoors. This work can be done in cramped, tight spaces, uncomfortable temperature and elevated heights.
  • Work can be performed on or near operating equipment at elevated noise levels.
  • Work at ground level and on roofs.
