Institutional Banking & Markets (IB&M) is responsible for managing the Group’s relationships with major corporate and government clients and institutional investors, and provides a full range of capital raising, transactional and risk management products and services.

IB&M’s success will be achieved through the effective implementation of our strategic initiatives. QDAT’s (Quants, Data, Analytics and Technology) purpose is to power, transform & grow IB&M, supporting its strategy via a centre of excellence using data, mathematics, insights, and technology to deliver exceptional results for our clients and the wider Group.

You will be part of a highly driven Quantitative Solutions team providing analytical solutions to the private (non-public) side of IB&M.

We aim to develop scalable and industrialised infrastructure that will change the way we work by eliminating risks, providing new insights, increasing our service quality, and creating capacity. This will enable the business resources to focus on delivering production innovation to our customers.

In this role

As an Associate Director you will be part of the Quantitative Solutions group by providing the Capital Structuring businesses with quantitative and analytical support. Using our state-of-the-art Python based Beacon IDE, you will be using the integrated GUI framework to combine analytics, data, and graphics to develop innovative applications for users.

You will be partnering with many areas on the Bank, including practitioners in the Securitisation and Credit Portfolio (balance sheet) Management groups, through to members of our risk and finance disciplines and, technology teams.

Other responsibilities will also include:

  • Planning and implementing of new initiatives to provide enhanced infrastructure to the teams in Capital Structuring

  • Analysing data and developing tools for end users to gain insights into the Bank’s exposures.

  • Designing and developing more efficient ways of doing things.

  • Collaborating effectively with the various teams to ensure systems and processes meet process, product, and technology requirements.

We’re interested in hearing from people who have

  • Advanced Python knowledge and experience, or high levels of competence in other object-oriented languages

  • Strong knowledge and experience in financial modelling

  • Familiarity with web design is useful

  • Demonstrated experience with SQL databases, etc.

  • Exceptional analytical and numerical skills

  • Strong attention to detail with problem solving abilities

  • Excellent written and spoken communications skills with strong influencing and interpersonal abilities

  • A good understanding of financial markets is advantageous

  • Tertiary qualifications in a numerate, engineering and / or IT based discipline or relevant industry experience
