Position Summary and Core Responsibilities

  • Directs the development of both the strategic and tactical marketing plan and programs within budget, be responsible for assessment of existing and potential markets, development and delivery of product strategies, definition of promotional activities, and product launch.

  • Champion for brand management.

  • Activities may include product support, product advertising/promotion, planning, developing, and implementing multiple channel programs.

  • Partner with global and regional Varian marketing departments and the SEA/K country and functional teams to develop the SEA/K marketing strategy.

  • Interact internally and externally with executive-level management.

  • Build strong relationships with customers and all Varian team members so that the activities of all Varian services result in a high degree of customer satisfaction.

  • Develop key relationships with marketing and PR personnel within customers and Industry bodies to support the Varian and SHS brands.

  • SEA/K Marketing representative in cross-functional meetings, presentations, and events internally and to customers.

Specific Functions or Duties

  • Performs all required management responsibilities including but not limited to implementing the company’s policies, programs, and guidelines; ensuring employee productivity and growth; managing resources; knowing Varian’s business; and maintaining functional, technical and external market awareness necessary for managing immediate organization.

  • Managing all marketing for the company and activities within the marketing department within the budget

  • Collaboration with Professional and Industry bodies to promote best-practice radiotherapy in cancer treatment.

  • Co-ordinating marketing campaigns with sales activities.

  • Lead market intelligence to increase understanding of competition strengths and weaknesses to develop opportunities and manage threats.

  • Project manage the company’s tender process.

  • Plan and implement projects that support the organization.

  • Drive the development (or adaptation) and implementation, monitor, and report the effectiveness of marketing communication strategies and tactics to support local market business needs, including but not limited to collaterals, event management, and branding.

  • Manage and improve lead generation campaigns and measure results.

  • Maintain effective internal communications to ensure that all relevant company functions are kept informed of marketing objectives.

  • Manage public relations activities, including press releases, case studies, executive interviews, and speaking engagements, as required.

  • Provide marketing services to key customers in line with strategic account plans.

Team supervision

  • Provide training, mentoring, and coaching, conducting performance reviews, participate in goal setting and goal attainment and have active development plans, for self and team.

  • Develop training plans for team members to ensure they are trained and knowledgeable on the systems and products they are required to use to maintain a high degree of professional knowledge.

  • Motivate and lead team members through a constantly changing environment.

Other

  • Participate in personal, professional development training to ensure superior knowledge of management, legislative, industry and organizational guidelines.

  • Support and comply with requirements of the Quality Management and WHS Management systems and guidelines.

  • Co-operate with other departments and provide the necessary support to enable the best service and maintenance services and optimize customer relations.

  • Act as a role model and loyal representative of the company, displaying confidence in the company and the company’s products.

  • Provide reports as required.

  • Perform other duties as required.

Typical Education & Experience

  • Formal qualifications in Marketing and Communications

  • 10 – 15 years professional marketing experience and commensurate management experience

Behavioral competencies

  • Expected to be proficient in the Varian Behavioral Competencies, as set out in the Varian Medical Systems behavioral competency model, as Level III proficiency.

  • Expert in providing exceptional customer service and inspiring the same in others.  Able to diffuse the most difficult customer situations.

  • Strong communication and business relationship-building skills, articulate and skilled in interpersonal communication with the ability to communicate clearly, simply, and professionally with all levels of employees, management, and customers.

  • Self-motivated and solution oriented.

  • Professional manner, proactive, strong problem solving.

  • Solid influencing skills to be able to motivate colleagues across multiple functions for maximum customer satisfaction and delivery of objectives.

  • Business acumen and strategic thinking with the capacity to translate plans into implementation activities.

  • Able to deal with customers at all levels and translate customer needs into solutions.

  • Able to balance the needs of the company and the customer.

  • Able to exhibit sound judgment and acumen in the identification and priorities.

  • Strong project management skills with the flexibility to manage conflicting priorities.

  • A healthy understanding of change management principles to be able to assist both customers and team members.
