Abbott Ireland Diabetes Care Division Donegal 

The Abbott Diabetes Care division based in Donegal Town manufactures FreeStyle blood glucose test strips and FreeStyle Sensors for use in diabetes management. Among Abbott Diabetes Care leading brands are the FreeStyle Precision, FreeStyle Lite and FreeStyle Libre system. 

Main Purpose of the role: 

This position supports our site to recognise the value in purposeful communications, inspiring us to share our stories of success, our impact on our customers and communities, driving our sense of belonging, engagement, participation & empowerment 

Develops and drives internal communications for the ADC Donegal site, engage employees through the creation, execution and maintenance of a robust internal communication strategy and plan. Utilises, improves or implements appropriate vehicles and frequency for communications as appropriate. Cultivates working relationships within the business as well as across other Abbott businesses to ensure accurate and consistent communications. Uplifts communications capability and maturity, to enhance engagement across the site. Establishes strong internal relationships to gather content and further refine and update the communications plan.  

We are seeking a Communication Specialist to: 

• Lead the development of internal communication strategies, objectives and programs. 

• Execute various components of communication activities across the ADC Donegal site. 

• Consult cross-functionally in the design of communications with clear and consistent messages to achieve these results. 

• Create various internal communications, linking the organizations vision, mission and objectives to developing informative and purposeful communications.  

• Develop and maintain key communication vehicles/ materials. 

• Ensure consistent style, messaging and governance for all internal communication, serving as the branding champion for internal communication. 

• Coordination of internal, professional meetings/events such as but not limited to All Employee Meetings, Quarterly Updates etc. 

• Partner and align messaging of internal and external communications. 

• Strengthen employee engagement by providing platforms for feedback and participation. 

• Establish connections with the internal community, events, and networks to support communications strategy. 

• Measure the effectiveness of programs by conducting communications surveys as needed to refine communications plan, delivery methods, etc. 

• Adaptive mindset and flexible approach, supporting the overall department achieve business priorities. 

• Accountable for the following: 1. execution of administrative and tactical tasks to deliver effective internal communications as directed by site leadership; 2. contribution to short-term, mid-range and long-term organizational goals; 3. continuous improvement of internal communications contents and methods.

Education and Experience required 

• Relevant third level qualification in Communications, Marketing or similar discipline
