Are you passionate about public policy and eager to see how the legislative process impacts real people? Join the Medicaid and Long-Term Care (MLTC) team at DHHS as a Medicaid Policy Intern. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience with state-level policymaking, particularly related to Nebraska Medicaid.

As an intern, you’ll observe how legislation is developed and passed during the legislative session and contribute to implementing newly passed laws during the interim. You’ll work alongside policy experts, legal analysts, and program specialists to support Nebraska’s Medicaid programs and improve services for vulnerable populations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Observe legislative hearings, floor debate, and committee meetings related to health and human services.

  • Assist with bill tracking, summarizing legislation, and compiling background information.

  • Support the policy team in planning and implementing new or revised Medicaid policy initiatives based on passed legislation.

  • Conduct research and analysis to support decision-making and policy updates.

  • Assist in preparing briefing materials, presentations, and internal communications.

  • Participate in meetings with internal teams and external stakeholders.

Application Review: March 1st

Application Deadline: March 27th

    Requirements / Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited college or university (two-to-four-year institution) OR recently graduated (within one year) from an undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited college or university (two-to-four-year institution).
