Santander UK continues to increase its reliance on third parties which underpin our operations. The Procurement team have undertaken a multi-year transformation programme focused on creating a platform to drive significant incremental value through the creation of an operating model with the capability to maximise the potential of this supplier ecosystem via connection & delivery of the right external expertise to meet the future demands of Santander and in turn, to drive best value whilst complying with regulation and Santander risk appetite.

As one of our Third-Party Risk Managers, you’ll be driving a multi-year assessment programme of our material suppliers to determine the effectiveness of their control environment through the design of complex scenarios and assessing the practical application of controls against relevant internal and external policies.

The difference you’ll make:

  • Creating and maintaining the Supplier & Service Assurance Framework: determine scope/supplier selection, methodology and approach
  • Contributing to developing stronger foundations through the provision of tailored toolkits to upskill key roles, working in partnership with Suppliers to create opportunities
  • Completing Modern Slavery & Human Trafficking (MSHT) audits for suppliers assessed as high-risk, increase oversight and audit of Human Rights and Ethical Business Practices in the Supply Chain through partnership with UK Charity
  • Working in collaboration with Subject Matter Experts, Category Leads, Service Managers and Aquanima to implement and operate a federated end-to-end assurance model through Sourcing, Certification, Performance Review and Expert Assessments
  • Supporting the delivery of Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM) objectives
  • Developing and ensure implementation of recommendations through detailed action plans to mitigate identified risks

What you’ll bring:

  • Previous experience or working in a risk management position
  • Understanding of Procurement and procurement systems including; Third-Party Risk Management technology

It would also be nice for you to have:

  • Good interpersonal skills - persuades and influences others, using a range of approaches, to achieve deliverables
  • Ability to give explain complex technical concepts in simple, clear language appropriate to the audience
  • Developed trusted relationships, establishing effective working relationships with customers, vendors and peers, using sound interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to use tools, data and best practices to identify, assess and manage operational risk exposures, ideally within Financial Services

What else you need to know:

This role can be based out of our Milton Keynes, Bradford or Glasgow offices.

We want our people to thrive at work and home, and also be able to deliver the best outcomes for our customers and to help each other develop. To support this, we offer site-based contracts with a hybrid working pattern and our expected level of attendance in an office is at least 12 days per month (pro-rata for part-time roles).

  • Eligible for a discretionary performance-related annual bonus.
