SIMON is seeking a highly motivated Business Analyst to provide functional leadership on complex enterprise projects. As part of our Information Services team, this role will ensure business technology initiatives meet clearly defined needs that improve SIMON end user capabilities and empower departments to achieve business goals using SIMON technologies.

This is an exciting opportunity for a results-oriented individual who works well in project teams but can operate independently and work through ambiguity. Projects will involve delivery of SaaS, mobile, web, and other enterprise scale technology solutions covering all functional areas of the enterprise and will likely include ‘buy vs build’ analysis, software selection and custom software development. The ideal candidate will have experience with various delivery methodologies and working collaboratively across functional areas to ensure business needs are fully met.

The Business Analyst position is primarily responsible for solving business problems using analytical, technical, and business skills. This role will work closely with business and technical stakeholders on the implementation of key solutions ensuring requirements are defined and solutions are designed, built, tested, and transitioned to operations.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:  

The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Collecting, analyzing, documenting, and prioritizing business and functional requirements using structured methods
  • Completing process, data, and work-flow definition, mapping and analysis activities
  • Defining test cases and assisting with executing testing
  • Participating in ‘buy verses build’ decisions and performing ‘gap analysis’ in evaluation of application software packages including recommendations to management
  • Participating with other IS staff and stakeholders in project reviews, tests, and pilots
  • Identifying conflicting business practices, integration issues, and inefficient or redundant processes and suggesting alternative solutions
  • Fostering and maintaining strong relationships with business and IS colleagues
  • Performing basic project management activities, including status reporting and task planning
  • Performing other responsibilities as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3-5 years of experience as a Business Analyst, Functional Lead, or Product Owner on large-scale software implementation projects
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conceptual skills
  • Requirements collection and documentation using structured approaches
  • Process, data, and workflow modeling
  • Demonstrated experience with Software as a Service (SaaS) configuration, analysis, and troubleshooting of functional and basic technical components (e.g. config, queries/reports, data integrations)
  • Working knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to express complex technical concepts in business terms
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work well on cross-functional project teams and foster team commitment to tasks
