Job Description:

The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for designing, installing, configuring, analyzing, and maintaining RaceTrac's servers, systems, and infrastructure applications in a team environment.  This individual works as a member of the Infrastructure Team to resolve technical issues and support technology projects throughout the enterprise.  The Senior Systems Engineer monitors the overall health of servers and systems and balances this workload with the timely completion of assigned technical infrastructure projects.

Candidates for this role should have prior experience serving in a Systems Engineer role.  The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of Microsoft 365 configuration and advanced troubleshooting and have a strong focus on process improvement through automation. This position participates in a weekly 24/7 on-call rotation with several other engineers.  This is a hybrid in-person/remote role with the expectation to work in-person at our Cumberland office a minimum of two days per week.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the administration, optimization, and advanced troubleshooting of Microsoft Office 365 services, including Exchange Online, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive, ensuring seamless email delivery, mailbox access, and user collaboration.  Serve as a key escalation point for challenging technical issues and drive adoption and implementation of new Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Configure and maintain Active Directory infrastructure including deploying and decommissioning domain controllers, managing organizational unit structure, determining group policy strategy, delegating security permissions, and facilitating directory synchronization to Microsoft Entra ID.
  • Maintain day-to-day infrastructure health and security through monitoring server availability and performance, patching servers and applications using centralized tools, and working with the IT Security team to implement appropriate security controls and procedures.
  • Automate processes and tasks through the use of PowerShell scripts, Okta Workflows, Azure Automation, and other automation tools as required.
  • Assist in the delivery of Single Sign-On (SSO) services by deploying and configuring SAML and OIDC applications within the Okta identity and access management platform. Collaborate with in-house Okta SMEs to securely manage multi-factor authentication (MFA), ensure seamless synchronization with Active Directory, and optimize the end-user experience through secure, efficient access solutions.
  • Design, execute, and document project plans for various infrastructure systems and applications.  Represent the Infrastructure Team in project meetings with other departments, including providing project updates to executives and non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field from an accredited college or university OR an appropriate level of industry experience
  • 6 years experience in the IT field including 2-4 Years serving in a Systems Engineer role or equivalent
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with experience diagnosing and resolving complex AD, authentication and system performance issues
  • Experience managing hybrid environments, integrating on-prem Active Directory with Entra (Azure AD) and cloud services
  • Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automation, user management and system administration tasks
  • Expertise in Active Directory administration, including Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, certificate management, replication and multi-domain environment
  • Current industry-recognized technical certifications are a plus
