Industry Technical Specialist, Household Care, AFRICA

We are looking for an experienced Industry Technical Specialist to join our Household Care team covering Africa . You will be the responsible person for:

• Market specific technical & formulation knowledge in terms of ingredient usage, formulation practices, technical innovation trends & industry movement
• Sparring partner & input-provider to the sales force represented across the region. Act as a regional technical specialist and ensure best-practice & insight sharing
• High impact meetings & key customer interactions together with sales, marketing & business development colleagues, when a specialized technical dialogue is needed to inspire & convince customer’s R&D teams
• Work in close collaboration with the HHC labs to develop proof of concepts which meet customer and project expectations

In this position, you need to have:

• Relevant advanced degree (M.Sc.) within chemistry, bio-technology or science or bachelors degree engineering
• 8-10 years of experience within the Household Care industry
• Strong track record of building detergent formulations & technical concepts incl. in-depth knowledge of surfactants, builders & specialty ingredients
• Ability to drive inspirational & convincing dialogues with customers
• Great network skills to build business & partnerships externally with customers, academia and industrial associations
• Willingness to travel up to 50% of working time
• Knowledge of French would be a plus
• Location : Shall be based in Lagos Nigeria

Industry Technology Specialist and Responsibilities

Industry management

Provide application insights

• Stay abreast of technical developments and generate new ideas, papers and patents
• Contribute actively with input for continuous product, tools and service development

Optimizing value of our technical solutions for our customers

• Identify and solve complex technical issues addressing customer concerns
• Initiate plans and coordinate technical activities carried out by NZ, customers or partners
• Participate in customer meetings as coordinated with Account Manager
• Support the Industry group by identifying and qualifying prospects and sales opportunities including new applications

Support launch teams

• Take ownership of a number of innovations, formulation & portfolio and co-own market specific launches from the technical angle
• Provide strong input in the launch concept creation phase (pre-launch) and support during launch to ensure strong impact & market anchoring.
• Assist in creating proof-of-concept for customer specific projects & pitches with focus on the technical angle.
• Act as a strong sparring partner to the techno-commercial sales force, when creating value-propositions for their customers.
• Focus will be on ensuring that our solution offerings meet customer, market and competitive demands and are technical optimum/viable solutions.  

Functional management

Experimental work

• Conduct/supervise own lab-work to meet customer and project expectations
• Manage external testing in collaboration with the responsible TSM
• Develop and adapt new methods and procedures based on up-to-date knowledge

Communication

• Represent Novozymes towards customers and other stake-holders on technical and /or project issues
• Ensure that information in CRM on the account is correct
• Actively reaching out within the global TS and R&D community in order to take advantage of the global organization as a platform for better solutions

Collaboration & stakeholder management – Internal & external network
The job entails working across HQ, regional & functional teams, and hence requires great organizational and communicational skills to effectively progress projects and create results. Working closely with various stakeholders both within Novozymes and externally is a key part of the role.
It is a highly collaborative job - working close with the regional account manager, application research, marketing Manager, the techno-commercial sales force & the regional innovation Center in India.
 
Performance & success measurement - KPIs & Targets
The position will have a significant impact on the future growth for the HHC Division in the region, hence the candidate is assigned responsibility (KPIs) in terms of both growth/budget & project/launch targets.
