Role Responsibilities

  • Record accounting journal entries and prepare reconciliations for the Western Union Foundation, including for grants, contributions, and affiliate transactions with Western Union.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements.  Includes detailed reporting to aid staff in making strategic decisions which could have financial implications.
  • Prepare and present quarterly treasurer’s reports to the Foundation’s Board of Directors.
  • Analyze data to ensure that Oracle and Foundation databases are in sync.
  • Prepare annual budget and monthly forecasts.
  • Prepare annual audited financial statements.
  • Work with external auditors on the annual audit, which includes preparing all required audit work papers and converting accrual-based books to cash-based for 990-PF tax return.
  • Prepare federal and state non-profit tax returns, as well as associated not-profit registration paperwork.
  • Help Foundation team prepare reporting for board meetings by ensuring grant dockets are in line with budgets.
  • Manage annual Charitable Solicitation filing process.
  • Invoice and manage receivables collection, including from Golf Tournament.
  • Work with Western Union business units during special partnership programs with the Foundation to aid in the transfer of funding.

Role Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in non for profit (public) accounting or equivalent financial reporting experience
  • CPA preferred.
  • Experience working with multiple departments and multiple management levels.
  • Strong knowledge of financial systems, preferably with Oracle
  • HFM experience preferred.
  • Advanced system skills, including MS Excel and Word
  • Strong written and verbal communication, analytical and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated leadership ability.
  • Attention to detail and highly effective planning, organizational, analytical, and problem solving skills
  • Strong communication skills, including ability to influence others and work effectively across geographies and functions in a matrix organization as well as to clearly and concisely present findings at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative, and exercise judgment in fast paced and changing environment.
  • Ability to effectively set priorities, manage multiple tasks and deadlines, and produce quality work while dealing with interruptions

Salary

The annual rate range is $90,000 – 120,000 per year, which includes a base salary and short-term incentives that align with individual and company performance. Actual salaries will vary based on candidates' qualifications, skills, and competencies.
