HUMAN RESOURCE ASSISTANT

Summary:

A Human Resource (HR) Assistant serve in a support role for the HR department.  This position will perform a variety of day-to-day administrative and HR-related tasks including recruitment, onboarding, employee records, benefits, leave of absence, and enforcing company policies and practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Post job openings, review resumes, schedule interviews, and conduct candidate screenings. 
  • Coordinate orientation and training sessions for new employees. 
  • Maintain employee databases, including PTO, and ensure data accuracy.
  • Assist employees with benefits, process benefit enrollments, and ensure compliance with benefit policies. 
  • Assist with formulating policies, procedures, and changes, and communicate updates to employees.
  • Ensuring compliance with employment and labor laws.
  • Address employee concerns and help foster positive relationships within the workplace.
  • Maintain the departmental email account and respond to employee questions and complaints. 
  • Serving as a point of contact, providing smooth communication with employees and timely resolution to their queries.
  • Generate reports as needed.
  • Oversee HR events and meetings.
  • Support HR-related training programs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS and talent management systems.

Education and Experience:

  • Associate degree or bachelor’s degree in business administration or human resource management plus 1 year of HR experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Working knowledge of Human Resources/Payroll Systems and Processes.
  • Union experienced preferred.

Compensation

The minimum and maximum hourly rate of pay that O’Connell Electric Company, Inc. believes in good faith to be accurate for this position at the time of this posting is between $22.50 to $27.50 annually.
