About you and this role

Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Sourcing Manager in our Purchasing team! This position can be located in Midland, MI or Houston, TX.

In this role, you will manage a global logistics portfolio, including North America Bulk Liquid Terminals, Sadara Bulk Marine, and Global Surveyor, and support key initiatives for purchasing such as sustainability & digitalization.

You will create value for Dow by developing and executing sourcing strategies, leveraging supplier relationship, analyzing market conditions, and negotiating with suppliers and internal partners to optimize sustained value for Dow across the assigned portfolio. Partnering with the businesses & supply chain teams in the Middle East & Africa as well as with Sadara will be a critical factor of success for the role.

You will be part of the global sourcing marine team, reporting to the Category Leader – Global Marine.

Responsibilities

  • Own & execute the commercial modal strategy in line with stakeholder requirements and in line with our ESG & digital strategies.   
  • Lead the respective sourcing council to deliver the service, financial & ESG objectives.
  • Address the modal challenges by offering alternative logistics & commercial strategies, in the current environment, with lack of capacity & cost escalation.
  • Own & conduct SRM (Supplier relationship program) with key accounts and advance the ESG agenda.
  • Support programs such as LCE.
  • Drive improvement in the purchasing sourcing.
  • Support / coach the tactical team as needed.
  • May lead projects or project steps within a broader project or may have accountability for on-going activities or objectives.

  

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree or at least 10 years of relevant working experience or relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E6 or Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class or Sergeant ranking.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant working experience.
  • A minimum requirement for this position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Preferred Skills

  • Prior experience working in purchasing or supply chain.
  • Works independently, receives minimal guidance. Can operate in a global organization.
  • Ability to drive change.
