Job Summary - Managed Collaboration Services Lead Consultant

Job purpose:  To play the role of “trusted advisor” in the sales cycle from ‘suspect’ qualification through to successfully delivering and onboarding managed service business for Poly.  The Managed Collaboration Services (MCS) Lead Consultant will be expected to operate independently during pre-sales engagements and will develop relationships with sales teams and technical peers within Poly, and onsite with customers during the pre-sales phase, then maintain oversight when the project is being implemented by a project delivery team.  The goal of the MCS Lead Consultant is to represent the MCS delivery team in support of the sales and delivery of Managed Collaboration and Professional Services promoting best practice through service product knowledge, opportunity awareness, and sales support as HP’s MCS and professional services expert.

Main duties - Engagement

  • Pre and Post Sales service envisioning and contribution to Statements of Work (SOW’s) that accurately reflect the customer's needs and are deliverable technically and aligned to standard service offerings.
  • Provide support for RFI/ RFP on managed collaboration services including developing standard material.
  • Recommend and participate in activities related to the design, development and deployment of MCS Engagements for:
    • Strategic published service offers for Professional and Managed Collaboration Service solutions based on HP | Poly, Microsoft Teams and other UC solutions including but not limited to Zoom.
    • Solution Definition, Design and technical architecture of large strategic accounts.
    • Advise the project delivery teams (Project Managers, Delivery Consultants, and Field Engineers) during project planning and deployment.
  • Provide input, guidance and recommendations on Technical Designs developed by other groups.
  • Remain continually aware of technical and business-related infrastructure challenges faced by customers, acting as a consultant and helping to develop creative solutions and lead customers to success.
  • Partner with other Lead Consultants, Solution Consultants,  Product, Solution, and Engineering teams to ensure solutions we build are robust, practical, efficient and technologically excellent
  • Review and support designs for HP | Poly Collaboration solutions
  • Undertake HP | Poly product initiatives to further the interests of

  • Provide internal business partnership to key HP | Poly stakeholders
  • Provide support to the MCS and Professional Services Leadership team, including but not limited to:
  • Contribution to infrastructure design processes, including ongoing review of process efficiency, recommending and helping to implement any necessary changes.
  • Identifying improvements associated with tools and techniques utilised by the Solution Consultants and Field Teams and contributing to their development and rollout.
  • Contribute to solution consultant training materials, tools and delivery – Taking technical lead on relevant new product introductions.
  • After hours and weekend work may be required on occasion.
  • Maintain knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and achieving industry certifications; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Must be able to travel up to 40% at times, providing sales support and on-site consulting work to clients.

Qualifications

  • Higher education of at least 2 years study with formal qualification
  • Experience in information technology at a customer-focused, consumer-centric professional and managed services organization.  Significant large scale project experience may be substituted for number of years.
  • 5+ years overall system architecture, design, development, deployment experience
  • 2+ years of extensive pre-sales and post-sales experience with engineering, consulting and system implementations of Unified Commnication and Collaboration technologies and platforms.
  • 2+ years of experience building Managed Services roadmaps and demonstrated experience as the infrastructure architect on many large projects
  • 2+ years of experience managing a technical project lifecycle from the conception of a business problem through the development of a solution
  • 2+ years of experience in providing leadership, influence and facilitation in identifying business solutions to meet strategic goals
  • 3+ years of experience in proposal development

Competency profile

Essential:

  • Excellent written and spoken English language skills
  • 5+ years’ experience in a mixture of networking, network applications and major account development
  • Expert and advanced experience with TCP/IP networking, switches, Routers, Firewalls (NAT & PAT translations), IP telephony and SIP
  • 5+ years of working knowledge of H.323 and SIP protocols.
  • 3+ years with Microsoft design experience either through competitor, channel partner or service provider
  • Current Microsoft Teams Certifications

  • Demonstrable working knowledge of O365 and Microsoft 365 Collaboration
  • VMware or other virtualisation platform experience
  • Strong working knowledge of privately managed and cloud based technologies and services, concepts, security and standards to develop conceptual, scalable and functional designs as well as the ability to implement such structures for a holistic Enterprise approach.
  • Good knowledge of Operating systems and IT infrastructure (both desktop and server)
    • Operating System Skills – Microsoft Servers/Active Directory

  • Demonstrable working knowledge of HP | Poly or competitors’ videoconferencing infrastructure
  • Experienced in the ‘consultative’ approach to selling -> ‘trusted advisor’
  • High level of intellectual commitment with strong awareness of client and related industry trends and be able to interpret these to Poly obligations to the client
  • Punctuality and presentation should be reflective of the high-ranking level of engagement this role will be involved in
  • Ability to be self motivated, proactive and to work in a team
  • Demonstrated ability in public speaking and presentation skills, with a focus on presenting technical information to those with a non-technical background
  • Excellent discovery and active listening skills with experience discussing collaboration technologies, unified communications and real-time applications over IP
  • Experience creating technical responses and formal documentation in a written and graphical format including technical architecture plans, phased approach proposals and network topologies

Desirable:

  • Prior experience of HP | Poly or competitors video solutions
  • Other European language skills, particularly German, Spanish, or French.
  • ITIL certification
  • Experience developing and/or using scripts to streamline process and activities.
  • Project management skills
  • Security experience (Cisco or Microsoft)
