Key Responsibilities

Strategic Global Leadership

  • Define and execute a comprehensive global business development strategy for photonics solutions for the industrial platform.
  • Identify high-potential markets and emerging opportunities in sectors such as automotive, life sciences, semiconductor and consumer electronics.
  • Establish thought leadership and lead strategic initiatives to penetrate new markets, expand existing customer relationships, and drive sustainable revenue growth.

Strategic Marketing

  • Define and oversee global marketing strategies to position Lumentum as a leader in the photonics industry.
  • Collaborate with CTO, Product Line Management and Product Marketing to align marketing campaigns with product roadmaps and market demand.
  • Establish thought leadership through industry events, white papers, and targeted campaigns to enhance brand visibility and market influence.
  • Leverage market data and analytics to refine go-to-market strategies and marketing investments.

Partnership and Alliance Development

  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships with key industry players, customers, and suppliers.
  • Negotiate and structure agreements to maximize value for all stakeholders.
  • Establish Lumentum presence and thought leadership at marquee industry conferences and events to strengthen market presence and develop new business opportunities.

Customer Engagement and Advocacy

  • Serve as the executive sponsor for key accounts, ensuring alignment with customer needs and expectations.
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to develop tailored solutions that address complex customer challenges.
  • Actively engage with customers to gather insights, refine strategies, and solidify long-term partnerships.

Market Insights and Competitive Analysis

  • Conduct thorough market analysis to identify trends, customer needs, and competitive positioning.
  • Provide actionable insights to inform product development, marketing, and sales strategies.
  • Drive thought leadership in the photonics industry through white papers, presentations, and public engagements.

Roadmap & Life Cycle Management

  • Collaborate with CTO to provide market intelligence on investment and industry trends to enable a more focused marketing effort to shape platform strategy and roadmap.
  • Ownership of product life cycle from concept to production launch to end-of-life.
  • Collaboration and ownership of engineering Gate reviews working with the program manager.

Executive Leadership and Collaboration

  • Work closely with executive leadership team to align business development efforts with corporate objectives.
  • Collaborate with CTO, engineering, operations, and product management teams to ensure market needs are translated into technical solutions.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and customer focus across the organization.
  • Global Expertise: Proven success driving growth in international markets and managing cross-cultural business relationships.

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Physics, or a related technical field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience: 15+ years in business development, strategic sales, or a related leadership role within the photonics or high-tech hardware sector.
  • Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of photonics technologies and their applications across key markets such as telecommunications, semiconductors, and industrial manufacturing.
