Northrop Grumman is seeking a Director of Business Development 2 to lead the Advanced Weapons (AW) Business Unit business development (BD) team. This position is preferred to be located in Northridge, CA but other locations can be considered.
The Director, as part of the growth-oriented and customer-focused Weapon Systems BD leadership team, will be responsible for driving near-term and long-term growth for the AW Business Unit. The qualified applicant will lead customer engagement, pipeline development, capture efforts, and strategy development for a global and rapidly growing portfolio. This position reports to the Senior Director of Business Development for the Weapon Systems division with a matrix relationship to the AW Business Unit Vice President.
Responsibilities Include:
- Provide thought leadership in the development and synthesis of a cohesive and executable BU strategy
- Lead pipeline identification and capture of new business to support AOP and LRSP growth targets
- Responsible for the development of customer engagement & growth strategies across the AW portfolio, in collaboration with functional and BD teams at all organizational levels
- Manage the alignment between AW discretionary (including NCTA) investment and the strategy
- Responsible for the fiscal management of the department’s budget
- Perform economic analyses on new or improved product opportunities and/or business models
- Create, maintain, and implement AW customer engagement plans across domestic and international military, government, and industry leadership
- Responsible for ensuring AW compliance with the highest Northrop Grumman standards in BD and Capture including the Business Acquisition Process (BAP), C-101, and international capture requirements.
- Develop, implement, and manage the process for new business capture and proposal management that results in competitive captures and overall improved win rate
- Responsible for the accuracy and consistency of the Pipeline and Customer Relationships Management (CRM) tools (Salesforce) while following the process standards of the BAP
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and 15 years of experience or Master’s Degree with 13 years of experience in the defense / aerospace business
- A minimum of 5 years of management experience in Functional Management, Engineering Management, Operations Management, and/or Program Management
- Background in tactical missile production, missile supply chain, and/or large-scale weapon production
- Proficiency in customer weapons requirements, budgeting, and acquisition process
- Proficiency in aircraft weapons tactics, techniques, and procedures
- Active U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Top Secret/SCI security clearance
- Must be able to travel as needed (up to 50% of the time)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Retired fighter pilot/weapons systems officer.
- 10+ years’ experience executing missions for Suppression of Enemy Air Defenses (SEAD) or other weapons engagement missions.
- Master’s Degree in technical/business field
- 15 years of industry experience in global business development, capture leadership, strategy development, and/or program management
- Demonstrated people leadership skills; direct and indirect leadership of large teams; ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Proven ability to provide independent critical assessments, that result in better enterprise outcomes
- Proven highly effective executive communication, presentation, and influencing skills
- Previous Profit & Loss (P&L) responsibility
- Strong customer domain knowledge and a proven track record of sustained business growth
Salary Range: $228,700.00 - $343,100.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
