Survey Programmer

ICF is a global management consulting services company with over 9,000 full- and part-time employees. However, we are not your typical consultants. At ICF, business analysts and policy specialists work together with digital strategists, data scientists and creatives. We combine unmatched industry expertise with cutting-edge engagement capabilities to help organisations solve their most complex challenges. Since 1969, public and private sector clients have worked with ICF to navigate change and shape the future.

We provide research, evaluation and technical assistance services to EU institutions, the UK Government and other non-governmental organisations. We are expanding our services and to support this growth we are looking for a Survey Programmer to work with our policy analysts across our project portfolio and join our growing Data Science team.

A good opportunity for a survey programmer or data processor with experience in market research. You will be part of a small team responsible for assisting in designing survey questionnaires, scripting those questionnaires within an online survey platform, monitoring/managing the online survey and processing and analysing the resulting data, including contributing to written reports and other deliverables that make use of the survey data. You will help to further improve survey design and analysis procedures and practices. This opportunity represents the “best of both worlds” of being part of a small, newly-formed and growing team but also a large established company with a well-established and stable client base.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

The Survey Programmer is also expected to contribute to drafting research reports and proposals, and present research findings to clients. You will typically be working on a few projects at a time, interacting with all levels of ICF staff and external stakeholders.

We are looking for candidates with the following knowledge and skills:

  • An academic background in a social science, statistics, computer science, or mathematics
  • Experience in questionnaire programming in Confirmit, Decipher, Qualtrics, Voxco or any equivalent software
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good organisational skills and ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Experience in manipulating data using statistical software (e.g. Excel, SPSS, Stata, R etc.)
  • The ability to be flexible, prioritise, multi-task and deliver under strict deadlines in a fast-paced working environment
  • Precision and attention to detail
  • Experience of working in social research is desirable but not essential.
