We are seeking a talented professional with a strong background working in the Cloud Platform space, particularly within Azure, to join our experienced team of Cloud Platform Engineers. Working within a Scaled Agile framework you will be responsible for delivering improvements and maintaining our existing cloud solutions, while working with your stakeholders to deliver and support vital work to improve the experience of our customers and colleagues.

What Will You Be Doing?

  • Review designs, develop, and maintain scalable and secure cloud infrastructure solutions, predominately Azure.

  • Working within an scaled Agile framework

  • Working alongside architecture on the implementation of cloud-native applications and services.

  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and management using tools like bicep, Powershell, Yamal, Python etc.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software and data engineering teams, and security, to ensure seamless cloud integration and performance optimization.

  • Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and fault tolerance of cloud services.

  • Mentor engineers and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

  • Stay current with the latest cloud technologies and industry trends to recommend and implement innovative solutions.

What Do We Need From You?

To succeed in this role being experienced with the following would be advantageous. 

  • Deep expertise in cloud platforms, predominantly Azure (Certifications like Administrator Associate  AZ-104, Solutions Architect Expert AZ-305, DevOps Engineer Expert AZ-400, Design and implement Azure Network AZ-700, Azure technologies/Security AZ-500);

  • Understanding and application of different development approaches e.g. iterative/ incremental methodologies (Scaled Agile) or traditional sequential methodologies (Waterfall). Irrespective of development methodology a DevOps approach may also be taken where development and operational staff work collaboratively.

  • Promote and adhere to coding standards and review engineers code for improvements and efficiency to ensure quality;

  • Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools;

  • Experience with cloud monitoring, logging, and alerting tools (e.g Azure monitor, Azure alerts etc);

  • Technical understanding of horizontal and vertical scaling methods to add addition capacity and optimise cost;

  • Ability and confidence to review architectural designs, checking and challenging where and when needed.

  • Able to use problem-solving tools and techniques to analyse and diagnose problems, including tools to troubleshoot and test cloud platform installations and code deployments, and to record progress and report on the root cause analysis of incidents.

  • Provide supervisory / managerial support on a temporary basis when required;

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional environment;

  • Ability and confidence to deal with stakeholders at all levels, through promoting ideas, presenting updates, and deliver technical information in a way that can be understood easily;

  • Confidence to check and challenge both within, and outside the team, where and when needed.
