About the role

As a Real Estate Asset Manager, you will be responsible for actively managing a portfolio of real estate assets at the property level, aligning with fund mandates and investment strategies to optimise returns within acceptable risk parameters. This role requires a strategic and analytical approach, involving collaboration with internal teams and external service providers to formulate and implement asset plans, budgets, and leasing strategies.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Collaboration:

  • Partner with external property management firms and internal teams, including fund management, transactions, leasing, ESG, research, and data teams, to deliver asset-level strategies.

  • Coordinate activities of property managers and service providers to execute asset and investment plans.

  • Support fund managers in developing fund strategies, preparing Investment Committee (IC) papers, and reviewing investment plans.

Asset Planning and Process Management:

  • Assist in the creation of detailed asset management plans aligned with investment objectives and client requirements.

  • Contribute to budget preparation for property portfolios and ensure stakeholder alignment.

  • Develop and implement leasing strategies to optimise asset performance.

  • Collaborate on proposals related to transactions, financing arrangements, and capital expenditure (CAPEX).

Execution and Oversight:

  • Ensure high standards of professionalism and market best practices in managing external asset managers.

  • Implement asset management plans according to agreed schedules and deliverables.

  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with internal teams and external service providers.

  • Negotiate and manage transactions, investments, lettings, and planning/zoning matters.

Reporting and Compliance:

  • Update asset management plans in line with reporting schedules and provide accurate, high-quality data for client reporting and valuations.

  • Monitor compliance with abrdn policies, anti-money laundering (AML), and Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) requirements.

  • Ensure all client interactions are appropriately recorded on Salesforce and other platforms.

Governance and Professional Development:

  • Maintain compliance with abrdn and client governance, policies, and procedures.

  • Uphold high standards of professional conduct and pursue continuing professional development (CPD).

About The Candidate:

  • Proven ability to deliver lettings, development projects, and complex asset management initiatives.

  • Strong industry reputation with a network of contacts among occupiers, developers, and property owners.

  • Extensive professional experience in institutional real estate, with expertise in asset management.

  • Proven experience in lease negotiations and the development of leasing strategies, preferably in an international environment.

  • Proficiency in data analysis, report preparation, and organisational planning.

  • Willingness to travel as needed.
