The Opportunity 

The heart of insitro’s strategy is the development of novel, groundbreaking methods in machine learning and high-throughput biology that address key bottlenecks in the drug development pipeline. To accomplish that, we are putting together a team of life scientists with pioneering cellular and technological expertise. As insitro grows its platforms we are looking for a leader to expand the capabilities of our Laboratory Operations team. As a Manager / Associate Director, you will be responsible for leading a team of full-time employees (FTE) and vendor contractors to support the needs of the insitro's various scientific projects with the daily stocking of laboratory reagents and consumables, compound and materials management, and media preparation. You will collaborate with teams across multiple disciplines such as our procurement team to ensure consistency of our reagent and consumable supply chain, our finance teams for budgeting and forecasting, the LIMS team for ensuring robust process tracking and documentation, and our automation team to identify opportunities for improved operational efficiencies.

About You 

  • BS in Biology, or a related field
  • 12+ years of relevant experience in various aspects of laboratory operations (budgeting, supply chain, vendor management)
  • Specific experience with compound or materials management
  • Experience with laboratory space-planning
  • Experience managing a team of 5+ employees, including FTE and CW staff
  • Strong attention-to-detail
  • Comfort with workflow and management tracking software (Jira, SmartSheets, Google Suite, LIMS)
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across disciplines (Facilities, Software Engineering, Automation, Chemistry)

Nice to Have

  • Use of organizational philosophies (six sigma) to drive process efficiency
  • Experience with media preparation
  • Comfort working with data management systems (databases)
  • Experience in working with automation systems
  • Solid understanding of building infrastructure systems, such as mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Ability to interpret equipment specifications with respect to building infrastructure (electrical requirements, etc).

Compensation & Benefits at insitro

Our target starting salary for successful US-based applicants for this role is $125,000 - $165,000. To determine starting pay, we consider multiple job-related factors including a candidate's skills, education and experience, market demand, business needs, and internal parity. We may also adjust this range in the future based on market data.

This role is eligible for participation in our Annual Performance Bonus Plan (based on company targets by role level and annual company performance) and our Equity Incentive Plan, subject to the terms of those plans and associated policies.
