POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Director of Operations works in partnership with the Principal with supervisory responsibility and creates a unifying workforce vision that brings team member development, performance management, and succession planning together. This position reports directly to the Deputy Superintendent. 

The Director of Operations will support the district’s mission and vision and role model the behaviors by:

The Director of Operations will support compliance-related items by:

  • Following internal procedures, external regulations and maintaining a safe learning environment.

  • Bringing compliance issues to the attention of the Deputy Superintendent.

  • Successfully completing regulatory training requirements periodically.

  • Working collaboratively in all facets of the position to meet position requirements and support district goals. 

  • Demonstrating a dedication to positive discipline.

  • Upholding campus safety standards.

  • Supporting and engaging parents.

  • Maintaining high visibility in the community and on the campus. 

  • Eliminating distractions to ensure the maximum amount of classroom time is focused on instruction.

  • Supporting and sustaining a culture of patriotism and citizenship.  

  • Maintaining high student attendance, enrollment and retention.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

School Operations:

  • Leads all aspects of school operations, including facilities, food service, and front office.

  • Ensures school-wide compliance with health and safety laws, charter contracts, state education mandates, and federal and state workplace regulations.

  • Continuously assesses and improves operational systems, processes, and policies in support of the school’s mission and vision.

  • Performs routine security checks and oversees building maintenance around school property to ensure safety.

  • Adheres to the school calendar of events.

  • Updates Facebook as needed.

Leadership and Administration:

  • Direct oversight of Assistant Principals.

  • Leads student enrollment and persistence efforts.

  • Creates and oversees the school’s budget, finances, and works with the network’s procurement teams to manage relationships with outside vendors.

  • Works with the Principal to create and oversee both long and short-term strategic planning and budgeting based on school goals and growth objectives.

  • Works with the Principal to create the structure and processes necessary to manage the school’s current activities and its projected growth.

  • Develops a succession plan for all positions in conjunction with the principal.

  • Participates on committees, special projects and seeks additional responsibilities.

  • Consults with human resources as appropriate. Addresses staff issues and documents accordingly.

  • Develops future school leaders.

  • Performs all other related duties, as assigned.

Communication and Community Engagement:

  • Promotes communication and adequate information flow within the district.

  • Oversees and attends regular meetings with PTO/PVO.

  • Schedules and facilitates parent information nights in conjunction with the principal.

  • Attends and participates in community events to increase local brand awareness of the school.

  • Represents Legacy Traditional School at local chamber of commerce and other relevant organizations in partnership with the Principal.

  • Collaborates and meets with the Vertex marketing team to establish marketing campaigns for their schools.

  • Builds mutual partnerships in the school community to increase enrollment and community awareness in partnership with the Principal.

Staff Management:

  • Hires, onboards and develops non-instructional staff to improve performance.

  • Observes and evaluates non-instructional staff performance.

  • Takes corrective action as needed, on a timely basis and in accordance with district policy.

  • Addresses parent issues and documents accordingly.

  • Conducts parent meetings and other school events to improve enrollment and persistence in partnership with the Principal.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

Education, Licensure, or Certification

Work Experience or Related Experience

  • Has earned an MBA, Master’s Degree in Education /Administration/Educational Leadership, or similarly relevant Master’s level degree.

  • Preferred three or more years experience in a school-level role.

Specialized Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Director of operations must have a high level of interpersonal skills in order to handle sensitive and confidential situations.  This position requires demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy.  The director of operations must work effectively and relate well with others including superiors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside of the district.  The director of operations must act in a professional manner in dealing with others and they must work to maintain constructive working relationships.  They must also have the ability to represent the school and district effectively in a variety of settings with diverse communities.   The director of operations must also have the ability to demonstrate understanding and appreciation for diverse cultures.  This position also requires:

  • An in-depth knowledge of school operations.  

  • Subject matter expertise within the educational community on school operations.  

  • Demonstrated program development and implementation skills.

  • The planning of the work of others and the coordination of work with other departments or external agencies.

  • The ability to read, write, analyze, and interpret policies, procedures, and regulations.

  • The ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from students, parents, community members, faculty, staff, media, supervisors, managers, and directors. 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • The ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations.  

  • The ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule forms.

  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.

  •  Strong leadership skills with the ability to develop staff.  

  • The ability to complete work in a timely, accurate, and thorough manner showing conscientiousness about assignments (leads by example).

  • A flexible schedule in order to work hours necessary to fulfill job requirements.

  • The ability to build consensus that permeates the entire staff through the development and implementation of a professional learning community.

BACKGROUND CHECKS:

  • The incumbent in this position will be required to pass a criminal history background check.

  • Must be able to obtain and hold a valid IVP Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card at all times.

PHYSICAL AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Travel between campuses is required from time to time.

  • This position requires the need to lift objects (up to 25 pounds) on occasion.

  • This position may require sitting for long periods at times, talking on the phone, standing, kneeling, stooping and long periods of concentration.

  • Local and in-state travel required.
