About Census šŸ”

Census is the first Data Activation platform built on your warehouse. Sync 360Ā° customer data to 200+ business tools today with Reverse ETL. Empower marketing teams to build dynamic audiences with a no-code segment builder.

Census is how data teams at companies like Canva, Figma, Rippling, Carta, and Notion build better business operations.

Backed by a16z , Sequoia, Tiger Global & Insight; we're a hybrid team headquartered in San Francisco that loves taking annoying problems most people avoid and building elegant solutions for them. We believe that data should be used for more than just making charts. This is why we invented integrations that work directly from cloud data warehouses.

šŸ«” The Mission

We're looking for the newest member of our Solutions Engineering team. You'll be a vital bridge between the front lines (working directly with prospects and clients) and the sales, product, and engineering teams, collaborating to relay critical feedback that shapes our product roadmap. Youā€™ll provide technical guidance, solution design, and thought leadership to help companies maximize their data warehouse investments - ensuring the highest quality data is delivered to the right places, at the right time and cadence.

You will also be an educator and architect alongside our Sales team. From demos to workshops, playbooks, and sales enablement, you will teach organizations about Censusā€™s value.

šŸ¦© About The Team

Join a team thatā€™s not just hardworking and curious but also close-knit and supportive. We tackle big challenges together and always have each otherā€™s backs. We love sharing what we learn - both within the team and with the broader community. And when weā€™re not solving problems, teaching, or empowering others, youā€™ll find us chatting about ways to improve the product, swapping ideas about our favorite shows, or trading recommendations for the latest must-hear podcasts. We may be small, but weā€™re a mighty team thatā€™s all about collaboration and connection!

šŸ§‘šŸ½ā€šŸ’» What You Do

  • Partner with Account Executives to give prospective customersā€™ data and operational teams access to deep technical knowledge about Census and the broader data ecosystem.

  • Teach prospects the ā€œart of the possibleā€ with Census, demonstrating use cases and best practices.

  • Take ownership of the customerā€™s technical evaluation. Ensure that all technical issues, questions, and product fit concerns are clearly resolved.

  • Collaborate as the technical liaison between Census sales and engineering teams.

  • Engage with product and engineering teams on the roadmap, sharing customer/prospect feedback and advocating for customer feature requests.

  • Ensure customers successfully implement and use Census.

  • Codify and share how-toā€™s in our documentation and internal knowledge base.

  • Mentor other Solutions Engineers, help onboard new team members, and build the teamā€™s capabilities over time.

šŸŽÆ  What Weā€™re Looking For

  • Senior Solutions Engineer experience - 4+ years experience in a solutions engineering role working with technical products, particularly with enterprise customers. Alternatively, 6+ years working as an enterprise data leader with a strong desire to engage with prospects.

  • Customer empathy - Ability to understand customer needs, clearly communicate tradeoffs (written and verbal), influence technical audiences, and translate that into technical solutions. Experience demonstrating and articulating product value to operations teams (marketing, customer success, sales, product, or finance)

  • Technical background - Experience with data warehousing, analytics engineering, and sales/marketing/revenue operations data. Proficiency in SQL and knowledge of database best practices and troubleshooting. Nice-to-haves: integration, orchestration, working with APIs, and/or Customer Data Platforms.

  • Self-motivation ā€“ Desire to act as a Directly Responsible Individual (DRI) in a startup environment without the structure of big companies. Proven ability to problem-solve your way through issues with the team.

  • Curiosity ā€“ Interest in learning and exploring, experimenting, and teaching others.
