Reporting to the Head of Life Science Data Products, the Senior Director of Commercial Data Products will be a key leader in the Life Science Product Organization. This leader will be responsible for maintaining, defining, and driving Ontada’s portfolio of commercial data products to Life Science Organizations and for ensuring that the portfolio of new and existing products maximizes business potential.

The Senior Director will lead and mentor a growing team of product managers and data scientists and will be accountable for high quality development, delivery and maintenance of the commercial product portfolio.

The Life Science Data Products Commercial team draws upon deep expertise in oncology product commercialization including product strategy, market access, and go to market models with a deep understanding of the use of real-world data across these functions.  This team leverages data science, analytics, and oncology clinical domain knowledge to provide innovative, data-driven products to drive unique insights around the oncology market landscape.   Our work helps clients define markets, demonstrate product value, and inform business decisions throughout product lifecycles.

The Senior Director of Commercial Products will help lead a team of talented data scientists and product managers to scale and support the Ontada commercial product portfolio.   The leader of this team will be accountable for not only the development, launch and go to market support for the commercial products but also the ongoing delivery, customer experience and organic product growth.   The Sr. Director will be responsible for ensuring product quality (eg, accuracy) and timeliness, data and analytics quality as well as product roadmap planning, adoption and success tracking.  

The person will also be responsible for building relationships across key internal and external business stakeholders and will assume responsibility for measuring and reporting key operational metrics to leaders across the organization.  This role requires an individual that can blend deep technical ability and leadership with a strong sense of communication and collaboration.  This is a role for someone who is passionate about unlocking business value with data and advanced analytics. This is an influential data-centric business role within a growth area with broad scope to shape our data product offerings and user experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide product portfolio leadership for Commercial data products and services
  • Lead, mentor and manage team of product managers and data scientists focused on developing, evolving, delivering, and managing the products in the commercial portfolio including day-to-day oversight of operational activities
  • Working with the Head of LS Data Products, create and develop the commercial product strategy and roadmap aligned to Ontada’s organizational goals and growth objectives
  • Lead collaboration across cross-functional teams including the data products foundations team and the Ontada technology team along others to ensure products are well designed, developed, and maintained from concept through launch and the ongoing development lifecycle.  Also ensure timelines remain on track
  • Ensure product teams are managing high priority areas to drive product growth by correctly evaluating and prioritizing features for inclusion into each product’s roadmap based on market assessment and business need
  • Support clients as product leader and train product team to support customers by addressing customer needs, articulate product value and function, and translating the product insights into customer value
  • Support sales as commercial product portfolio subject matter expert providing necessary go to market content and training as well as customer sales engagement as needed to drive product growth
  • Work collaborative with functional business teams like sales, sales operations, finance, marketing, technology and end users to identify key areas for improved efficiencies and customer experience
  • Maintain deep understanding of the evolving market and competitive landscape for our commercial product portfolio to ensure strategic positioning and continuous improvement
  • Set the priorities and deliverables for teams to ensure timely delivery of quality products and to ensure that product managers are maximizing customer experience and product adoption a
  • Maintain relevant metrics to track product performance and value realized for the business in support of annual product growth and revenue goals
  •  Be a positive force to cultivate a collaborate culture that is passionate about developing a product-first culture

Key Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Computer Science, or related disciplines. Advanced degrees (Master's or Ph.D.) in Life Sciences or Business Administration is preferred. 
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience a product focused role specifically product strategy and development and product management and at least 5 years in a leadership position (leading multi-product team)
  • In-depth understanding of the commercial life science and biopharma space and a deep understanding in oncology considered a major plus
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive collaboration between commercial, technology, and life science stakeholders excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills demonstrating an ability to "tell a story"
  • Ability to work with diverse teams (Sales, Research and Developers) to convert product ideas into requirements
  • Strong entrepreneurial spirit; high energy level, sense of urgency, responsive, confident, thorough, not afraid to make decisions
  • Demonstrated ability to financial perform

Our Base Pay Range for this position

$187,200 - $312,000
