How You Will Contribute:
- Strategically manage and oversee the rotation schedules for NOC engineers, ensuring optimal coverage for all shifts, vacations, and leave requests, while maintaining operational continuity.
- Conduct comprehensive performance evaluations for NOC engineers, delivering actionable feedback, recognizing achievements, and addressing areas for improvement to foster professional growth.
- Facilitate regular team meetings to review progress, address challenges, and align on priorities, ensuring clear communication and collaboration within the team.
- Represent the NOC in client meetings when required, providing detailed and professional explanations of incidents and resolutions to uphold trust and transparency.
- Proactively identify skill gaps within the team and collaborate with the NOC training department to implement targeted training programs and reinforce technical expertise.
- Ensure operational excellence by maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation, while collaborating with other NOC groups to validate and enhance processes.
- Lead critical incident response efforts, coordinating resources effectively and participating in post-incident reviews to develop robust, long-term solutions.
- Cultivate a culture of continuous learning and development by mentoring engineers, promoting knowledge sharing, and encouraging innovation and growth.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Team Management:
- Organize rotation schedules for engineers reporting to the NOC Manager.
- Ensure proper shift coverage and plan rotations for vacations and leave.
- Conduct performance reviews and provide mentoring to enhance team capabilities.
Operational Oversight:
- Validate and update documentation regularly in collaboration with other NOC groups.
- Monitor and improve operational processes to enhance efficiency.
Client and Incident Management:
- Represent the team in client meetings to provide incident details and resolutions.
- Manage major incidents and post-mortem reviews to implement long-term solutions.
Training and Development:
- Identify areas requiring training reinforcement and coordinate with NOC training teams.
- Foster development opportunities for engineers through mentoring and guidance.
Experience and Assets:
Required Experience:
- Proven experience in managing NOC teams or similar technical roles.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage schedules and rotations effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to present technical information clearly to stakeholders.
- Knowledge of network architectures, protocols, and enterprise monitoring systems.
- Experience in performance management and team development.
Knowledge/Abilities:
- Expertise in technical troubleshooting and incident management.
- Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities.
- Proficiency in operational tools and techniques for process improvement.
Working Conditions:
- 24x7 operational environment.
- On-call rotations and shift work may be required.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively.
Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.
Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
