WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

As the Manager, Product Development Engineering, Design, you will lead a team of Design Engineers and report to the Director, Product Development Engineering, Design. You will work closely with Air Product Engineering, Tooling Engineering, MTO and Quality Engineering team members and management. People appreciate your ability to communicate with a wide variety of audiences and gain alignment with multiple stakeholders. Outside of Air MI you may collaborate with key design engineering vendors

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for a Manager, Product Development Engineering, Design to join Air Manufacturing Innovation. This role is a key member of the team that delivers AIR by driving the adoption of new design capabilities, best practices, and standards. The candidate should be adaptable, solutions-oriented, inclusive, and respectful. They will prioritize in a constrained environment, engage with a diverse group of stakeholders, and clear obstacles for their team. 

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Material, Manufacturing or equivalent combination of education, experience or training.
  • At least 5 years relevant engineering experience
  • Experience leading a team or project
  • Uses clear and concise communication that is tailored to the intended audience
  • Proven ability to work with associates of all levels including people leaders, experts, engineers, technicians, and supervisors.
  • Champion of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in the workplace.
  • Knowledge of Siemens NX and/or Solidworks applications a plus.
  • Knowledge of Thermoforming of Thermoplastic Polyurethanes, RF Welding, Part Trimming, or Machine and Tooling Design a plus.

This Design Engineering Manager role will require you to lead an engineering team to:

  • Embraces and leads change within the teams and organization.
  • Drives clarity through task and project prioritization, creation or improvement of systems-based work, and address resource and operational challenges in alignment with the department strategy.
  • Creating and improving design and tooling operational excellence.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure tasks and projects are aligned and communicated.
  • Leads a Design Engineering team responsible for:
    • Part and tooling design for new product development
    • Tooling related changes for continuous improvement to increase efficiencies within production
    • Drive and adopt computational design best practice
