Mendon Truck Leasing and Rental, a branch of PETIT FORESTIER GROUP, a full-service leasing and rental company and a leader in the refrigerated fleet market, is searching for full-time Class C Mechanics to work at our Bronx and Newark, NJ and Lakewood, NJ Branches.
Mechanic Class C
Full Time - Union Local 447 - $33.54/hour
Job Summary
Under direction of a Supervisor, Lead Technician or a Class A Mechanic, a Class C Mechanic generally performs minor repairs and all aspects of preventive maintenance on all types of trucks and trailers (i.e., Industrial trucks, light duty truck tank truck, tractor, tank trailers, etc.)

Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES:
•    Read written job and/or oral job orders and communicate orally, document in writing (including computer documentation) regarding malfunctions, damage and repairs, parts and preventative maintenance required.
•    Assists higher level mechanics when and where directed.
•    Performs simple mechanical repairs as directed by the supervisor or mechanics to whom assigned.
•    Performs clean-up duties in the shop and yard areas as directed.
•    Secures parts and tools for mechanic to whom assigned as directed.
•    May be called upon, to perform any of to perform any of the lesser skilled jobs in the shop and yard
area.
•    Performs other duties as directed.

QUALIFICATIONS:
•    Must be able to obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire.
•    Demonstrated ability and experience performing the tasks outlined in the responsibilities detailed
above with supervision on all types of trucks and trailers.
•    High school diploma or equivalent required.
•    Post-Secondary Degree, Technical Certification, or Vocational Certification is preferred.
•    Basic tools required.
•    Ability to communicate effectively.
•    Knowledge of computers to operate diagnostic test equipment and company software programs proficiently.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
•    Shop, office, yards, vehicle environment, may require lifting of 50 to 75 lbs.
•    This position requires driving company vehicles.

What is the profile required for this position? This position is accessible with a CAP/BEP to Bac (vocational baccalaureate, etc.) level diploma in automotive mechanics, automotive electricity, internal combustion engines, etc. It is also accessible with professional experience in the same sector without any particular diploma. You have precise knowledge of traditional mechanics, particularly in the fields of electricity, mechanics and pneumatics. You have a global understanding of the functioning of a motor vehicle.
