About our Team

The Public Safety Special Investigative Unit (SIU) is comprised of former law enforcement experts, sworn and civilian, who leverage the full suite of LexisNexis solutions and data offerings to provide real-time investigative insights for LexisNexis customers and local agencies.  The Public Safety SIU, also serves to work directly with the customer agency by driving the value of our tools, analyzing data and, building best practices required to maintain the quality and timely delivery of information. The team aids law enforcement during critical incidents and major investigations and works onsite with the agency.

About the Role

LexisNexis Risk Solutions is seeking a candidate to work as a Rochester Police Department Crime Analyst. This position will be based at the police department.  This analyst is instrumental in collecting, analyzing and disseminating data. This position exists to provide crime analysis services to a customer of LexisNexis to include tactical, strategic, administrative, and operational analysis of their data to provide decision makers in the agency with the actionable intelligence they need. The analyst should be highly skilled at using statistics to analyze crime patterns and trends. The analyst is expected to develop and prepare analysis reports utilizing numerous types of software to create charts, graphs, maps and data bases that will help relate data in order to track and present findings associated with criminal activity. The analyst must complete a background check performed by the Rochester Police Department. 

Additionally, this position will serve as a subject matter expert on LexisNexis products that are in use at the customer site by providing training and guidance on how to utilize them effectively. The role also may create, maintain and enhance product design and related documentation and to effectively communicate with internal and external clients, management and LexisNexis Risk Solutions functional areas by presenting problem resolution, product information and status reports in a professional manner. Management preference is a background in law enforcement crime analysis.

You will be responsible for

  • Produce actionable analytical products to decision makers within the local police department on a wide variety of topics.
  • Proactively share crime analysis reports, findings and recommendations with customer agency.
  • Aid in the analysis of data provided by customers to identify fraud and provide insight into fraud solutions and customer workflow analysis.
  • Acquire and enhance understanding of product knowledge and customer requirements for personal and career development. 
  • Present and discuss innovative ideas on product improvements and enhancements to manager for incorporation into new and existing products.
  • Analyze, investigate, and resolve problems to ensure product integrity. 
  • Professionally maintain relationships with internal and external customers. 
  • Support and participate in LexisNexis and customer projects.
  • Works directly with sales team and/or customer agency to support fraud solution product understanding, implementation, and best practices.
  • Maintain positive customer relationship though detailed analysis of small data batches.
  • Professionally maintain relationships with internal and external customers to raise brand awareness of the Special Investigations Unit.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • BA or Higher
  • Law Enforcement Experience
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Crime / Data Analysis
  • Knowledge of standard crime analysis software, products and procedures. Accurint preferred.
  • Knowledge of LexisNexis products and procedures a plus
  • Self-motivated and dynamic
  • Demonstrates competence in application of logic to problems
  • Demonstrates competence in research and problem resolution
  • Organization and analytical skills a must
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Exceptional oral and written communications skills
  • Ability and desire to learn new processes, tools, and technologies
  • Knowledge of various data types and formats including, but not limited to: XML, delimited, PowerPoint, etc.                                                                                
  • Knowledge of data analysis tools and processes
  • Proofreading skills to see how data and facts can be linked together to create more meaningful conclusions.
