The chance to play a key Line 2 role in the Central Advisory and Analytics team, you’ll work closely with the Team Leader to drive the monitoring and assurance on key areas and bring consistency of the approach across all locations.

Do work that matters:

Institutional Banking and Markets (IB&M) is responsible for managing the Group’s relationships with major corporate and government clients and institutional investors, and provides a full range of capital raising, transactional and risk management products and services. The division also performs an important internal role for the Group by providing equities, markets, lending and transaction banking execution capabilities to other CBA business units that allows them to capture opportunities with business customers. Group Treasury is part of CBA’s Financial Services business unit and performs funding, liquidity and asset and liability management activities for the CBA Group.

The Central Advisory and Analytics team provides specialist risk expertise through delivery of assurance reviews that provide an independent opinion as to whether the business are appropriately identifying and effectively managing their non-financial risks.  The role also provides advice and oversees that the Operational Risk Management Framework (ORMF) is effectively implemented in the business units and operates within risk appetite. 

We work with our teams in New York, London, Europe, Asia and domestically.

Your day could look like but not limited to:

  • Proactively seek opportunities to simplify risk frameworks, policies and processes.
  • Execute targeted assurance reviews into areas of business growth or focus – identified through data analytics, assurance planning or at the request of the business or management.
  • Perform comprehensive data analysis to support a range of Line 2 targeted monitoring activities, using internal and external data sources, to provide thematic insights.
  • Execute control assurance over specialist operational risk and compliance controls that support regulatory commitments.
  • Communicate assurance and risk review outcomes that provide valuable insights and recommended action plans to stakeholders. Identify and recommend areas of best practice or automation for business consideration.

We're interested in hearing from people who have:

  • Evidenced experience in Operational Risk in banking or professional services.
  • Sound working knowledge of Risk Management Frameworks, tools and applications.
  • Demonstrated experience in monitoring and assurance activities.
  • Demonstrated experience in data analytics that draw insights and excellent report writing skills.
  • Experience in successfully communicating with and influencing your peers and management, as well as the ability to build rapport with stakeholders.
  • A demonstrated ability to adapt to changing business requirements and deliver high quality and timely assurance and monitoring reviews to diverse business areas.
  • Broad knowledge of financial markets, products, banking and the financial regulatory environment
