OVERVIEW:

The position will require working individually or with a small team of Welders, Fabricators, Designers, Engineers, and Mechanics to execute customer projects.  Projects include motorsports, automotive, defense, and commercial industries.

This position requires the layout and fabrication of metal weldments and assemblies. The welder/fabricator will execute the requirements of the work orders and process material accordingly. Must be familiar with welding and other structural fabrication processes. Will use drawings, specs, and/or verbal instructions as well as exercise judgment and experience to plan and accomplish goals. 

Based on instructions/information given, will make fabricated products using hand tools, machine tools, and welding equipment, as well as working with other departments. Should have the ability to check his/her own work. Must meet deadlines and document progress, be flexible, dependable, time conscious, and be able to move from project to project with minimal supervision.  Will work closely with the shop management and be able to conduct his/her day-to-day duties in a highly professional manner.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Typical responsibilities include but are not limited to the following items:

  • Proficient in both MIG and TIG welding of thin gauge (.035”-.125”) aluminum, stainless steel and steel.
  • The ability to operate hand tools.
  • The ability to operate a variety of machines in the shop.
  • The ability to operate a hydraulic brake press.
  • Must be able to understand and interpret complicated blueprints.
  • Must possess the ability to interface with other departments to accomplish tasks.
  • Must possess the ability to communicate professionally, both verbally and in writing.
  • Must possess the ability and maturity to perform in a dynamic and fast paced environment.
  • Must be able to maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Must possess working ability to apply all applicable safety requirements to comply with regulatory agencies. 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

Desired Education and Training:

  • Minimum 2 years welding/layout experience.
  • Fabricator skills to include complicated layouts, shrinkage calculations, check & straighten capability, and should be able to direct a project. 
  • Proficiency typically acquired through 3-5 years of related experience in Welding/Fabrication.

Desired Specialized Skills and Knowledge:

  • Must be able to rig and move heavy structures.
  • Must possess own tools appropriate to the job being performed.
  • Must possess the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. 
  • Must possess the ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • 40 hour work week with overtime paid as worked.
  • 6:30 am work start time
  • Must be flexible with schedule to accommodate fixed deadlines.
  • Some travel may be required
