AES Clean Energy is a rapidly growing renewable energy company headquartered in Salt Lake City, with additional offices throughout the world. The AES Clean Energy Field Operations team is looking for a Solar Apprentice with the desire to learn and grow in the Solar Technician craft. This individual would play a pivotal role in ensuring that AES Clean Energy operates the portfolio to standards that exceed industry best-practice. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter and have the ability to take direct instructions from Senior Technicians. As AES Clean Energy grows to become one of the leading IPPs in the industry, this role will provide an unparalleled opportunity for professional growth.
The position will be based in Lancaster, CA. The candidate will be required to commute to the site.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Based out of your home, travel to distributed and utility-scale solar and battery storage facilities in local region to perform preventative & corrective maintenance
- Perform other technical and administrative duties associated with operating and maintaining a power facility
- Coordinate and lead contractors engaged to support maintenance activities
- Provide limited support for commissioning activities
- Ensure work is performed in accordance with Environmental and Safety requirements.
- Perform work independently and work in teams

- Understanding of general workplace safety and the ability to follow safety standards as well as help the company improve upon the standards in place.
- Ability to operate vegetation maintenance equipment including tractors, riding mowers, and other equipment.
- Ability to learn electrical systems, basic safety principles of LOTO, and electrical safety.

Education / Experience:
- Possess high school diploma or GED.
- Valid State issued Driver’s License
Working Conditions:
- Working outside.
- Normal plant and/or office environment, including working at heights, high/low ambient temperatures, and high/low humidity areas.
- Requires standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, twisting, climbing stairs and ladders, and entering plant equipment to access, inspect, or collect data on plant equipment.
- Requires use of wear personal protective safety equipment (respirators, safety glasses, hard hat, appropriate footwear, ear plugs, etc.).
- May be required to work around rotating and energized equipment, hazardous materials, and chemicals.
- Occasionally requires lifting as appropriate to perform duties and responsibilities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Work overtime and non-standard working hours as required.
- Travel to sites outside typical area.

The expected salary for this position, at commencement of employment, is between $24.50 and $29.33/Hourly; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements such as annual bonus, in addition to a full range of medical, dental, vision, life, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if a candidate receives an offer of employment.
