Job Description:

Scope

Process new patient intake and schedule new patients from patient calls, through organization’s phone system.  Ensure all new patients are scheduled in a timely manner.  Obtain all records prior to the appointment and distribute all patients’ informational packets.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Schedule new patient consultations

  • Schedule all new patient consultations, from new patient intake calls funneled to team thru organization’s call center distribution.  Verify information, including patient demographics and insurance information with precision. 
  • Ensure records have been received prior to the scheduled appointment.
  • Review records on potential consultations with clinicians to ensure that patients are being scheduled in a timely manner.

Data entry

  • Enter demographical information into the computer for all new patients.
  • Obtain information on all referring physicians and enter that information into our data base (UPIN, NPI, address, fax, phone, etc.).
  • Obtain and enter insurance information.
  • Verify patient eligibility.
  • Scan records into the system.
  • Keep statistical information regarding new patient visits (diagnosis, referring MD, etc.)
  • All other duties as assigned.

Work Environment

  • Work is performed in a remote office environment.
  • The Company reserves the right to end remote work based upon the needs of the business or if performance concerns arise where daily onsite supervision is required.
  •  Involves frequent interaction with staff, clients, patients and the public.

  • Demonstrate the ability to work well with peers while ensuring a strong cohesive team.
  • Respect and maintain the patient’s right to privacy by protecting confidential information by adhering to HIPAA guidelines.
  • Follow policies and procedures.

Education and/or Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Medical terminology and medical records experience preferred.
  • Can work closely with clinicians and outside entities.
  • Well organized and have an understanding of oncology and hematology.
