The State Teachers Retirement System of Ohio (STRS Ohio) is seeking a Senior Acquisition Officer 2 to join its San Fransico, California real estate investment team.

 Compensation: 

$220,000-$240,000

Work Schedule:

8:00am-5:00pm Monday through Friday, with up to two days per week remote work opportunities. 

General Summary:

Under the direction of a regional director, source, research and underwrite real estate investment opportunities, make recommendations, and close real estate investment transactions.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Operate independently to originate potential real estate investments and determine suitability relative to current investment guidelines.

  • Underwrite and make recommendations regarding specific real estate investment opportunities based on market data, tenant credit analysis, market interviews and financial modeling.  Evaluate and recommend appropriate investment structures and joint venture partner qualifications.

  • Maintain contact with existing partners, developers, leasing agents, mortgage bankers, and other real estate-related contacts to track current investment trends and opportunities while simultaneously developing new sources.

  • Responsible for coordinating and managing the underwriting and due diligence processes with appropriate individuals including making necessary presentations for purposes of seeking approval from any real estate investment related committee.

  • Negotiate transaction related legal documents in consultation with assigned legal counsel.

Summary of Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in business administration, economics, finance, or related field preferred; bachelor’s degree and related experience may substitute for the advanced degree.

  • Seven to ten years real estate experience with a heavy emphasis on institutional acquisitions required.

  • Comprehensive experience and familiarity with a diverse range of property types and financial structures including joint ventures.

  • Possess an established network of owner, developer and broker relationships to facilitate sourcing of opportunities.

  • Excellent negotiating and underwriting/analytical skills required.

  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task.

  • Superior oral and written communication skills.

  • High Level of proficiency in the use of personal computers including Word and Excel or similar type software

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.

  • Excellent work record of attendance and punctuality; occasional evening, weekend and non-regular work hours required.
