Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to work on projects related to genetic molecular diagnostics, cancer predisposition, in vitro and in-vivo (PDOX) drug testing and discovery of biomarkers (genetic and metabolic) in pediatric brain tumors. The candidate will be responsible for performing experiments and collection and analysis of data from drug testing on in-vitro tumor cells and a PDOX mouse model as well as maintenance of a genetic-modified mouse colony including breeding, genotyping, and collection of appropriate samples and data for experiments. The candidate will also help perform optical genome mapping in the laboratory, and help with generation and analysis of the data. Additionally, the candidate will participate in the management and operation of the lab.

Ideal candidate will have experience in in-vitro drug screening, brain tumor PDOX generation and mouse gavage/drug treatment and brain/nerve dissection. Experience in genetics and genomic data analysis and bioinformatics is preferred but not required. Successful candidate should have demonstrated experience in laboratory methods: agarose gel electrophoresis, PCR analysis, DNA purification, western blotting, etc.

K.S.A.'s:

  • Ph. D. or MD in Medical or Biological Science Program.
  • Knowledge in Computer programs, word, excel and power point presentations.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Organizational skills:  Ability to establish priorities and react promptly to a large variety of requests and needs, sometimes in stressful situations. 


Job Duties:

  • Provide researchers as requested with technical assistance. 
  • Performs job functions adhering to principals of innovation, academic excellence and teamwork to provide the highest quality research effort to our Institution, co-workers and others.
  • Genetic studies, molecular biology Redcap/ Imaging software, gene chip arrays and others.
  • Analyzing data.
  • Preparing data for presentations, grants and publications.
  • Help write grant proposals and progress reports related to research projects.
  • Participate in regular lab meetings, journal clubs, and research seminars.  
  • Other job functions as assigned.
