VML Luxembourg

VML Luxembourg is one of the leading Amazon consulting agencies in Europe. Offering 360° services for Amazon, we have a diverse range of products and services in various sectors to ensure long-term sales growth, ranging from creating multilingual content and listings to all aspects of advertising, including sales promotion, PPC and programmatic campaigns. We are part of WPP, the world’s largest digital media agency, and manage WPP’s European Center of Excellence for Amazon (ACE) dedicated to maximising performance, driving sales and building brands on the Amazon platform.

The opportunity:

We are looking for a highly experienced technical leader who is as comfortable writing code as they are designing robust architectures. In this hybrid role, you’ll be instrumental in setting engineering best practices and strategic technical direction on a team of 15–20 skilled professionals. You will not only provide hands-on technical guidance in our Java and AWS-driven backend but also work closely with business stakeholders to craft scalable solutions that elevate our Amazon advertising and integration offerings. This is your chance to make a tangible impact by driving innovation and operational excellence in a fast-moving, high-profile environment.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Technical Leadership & Hands-On Development
    – Set the technical direction, define best practices, and ensure high-quality engineering standards across the team.
    – Contribute directly to the codebase in a Java and AWS cloud environment, championing modern development practices.
  • Architectural Strategy & Execution
    – Develop and maintain scalable, secure, and robust system architectures that underpin our Amazon ad integration solutions.
    – Lead design workshops, architecture reviews, and technical discussions to ensure alignment with business goals.
  • Team Leadership & Mentorship
    – Mentor, coach, and inspire a diverse team of engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
    – Work closely with cross-functional teams—including product and operations—to translate business requirements into technical blueprints.
  • Stakeholder & Business Engagement
    – Partner with product owners and senior business stakeholders to ensure technical solutions drive value and operational efficiency.
    – Balance technical decision-making with business imperatives, ensuring that every solution supports long-term growth.
  • Innovation & Continuous Improvement
    – Stay abreast of the latest trends in cloud computing (with emphasis on AWS), microservices, and eCommerce integrations.
    – Implement and refine agile methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices to optimize delivery.

What we want from you:

  • A proven track record of technical leadership, preferably managing multi-disciplinary engineering teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Extensive hands-on experience in software development, with deep expertise in Java and AWS cloud services.
  • Demonstrated experience in architecting scalable, secure, and high-performance systems, ideally within the digital advertising or eCommerce space.
  • A strong understanding of integration patterns and cloud-native architectures, with familiarity in designing solutions that interface with Amazon platforms.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
  • A passion for continuous innovation and mentoring, with the ability to lead by example in both strategic and hands-on capacity.
  • Experience in agile development methodologies and a commitment to industry best practices.
  • Exposure to serverless, containerization, and CI/CD tooling, as well as any experience in ad tech or Amazon-specific integrations.

What we can offer you:

Alongside the opportunity to work with some of the most exciting brands around the world, we’ll also prioritise your career development and help you grow your skills. We’ll empower you to make a difference, allow you to be yourself, and respect who you are.

  • Influence & Impact: Play a key role in shaping the future of our technical strategy and driving breakthrough solutions that empower leading brands on Amazon.
  • Collaborative Culture: Work within an agile and innovative environment where ideas are valued and every team member’s contribution makes a difference.
  • Growth Opportunities: Enjoy continuous learning, professional development, and opportunities to keep ahead of emerging technologies.
