Job Description

Senior Engineer Physical/Mask Design/Layout

Role Overview:

As a layout / design engineer, you will be responsible for designing or sourcing test vehicle masks to support TEL business operations in our R&D facility in TTCA, Albany NY. You will be a key part of a dynamic team of integrators and enable fundamental R&D and process development across several technologies including Logic FEOL/MOL/BEOL, memory and 3DI.

Responsibilities:

Own layout design rules and content from project conception through conclusion:

  • Collaborate with engineering teams to understand requirements and specifications for the layout and set design rules.
  • Own test site roll out schedule from design to tape out phase.
  • Define and create electrical test structures and whole die layout.
  • Validate design through DRC and LVS to ensure layout accuracy and correctness.
  • Organize accessory modules for integration including litho alignment mark, OVL mark, CDSEM box, inline measurement modules etc.
  • Scribe line design with necessary accessory marks.
  • Alignment tree validation
  • Automatic pattern generation including dummy patterns etc.
  • OPC, illumination condition and photoresist material planning.
  • Providing necessary information for scanner recipe setup.
  • Maintain accurate and organized documentation of layout projects.
  • Keep up to date with the latest layout tools and techniques.

Maintain roadmap and cadence of test vehicle design and tape out aligning across TEL’s various stakeholders to ensure design pipeline and test vehicle adequately sustains business needs.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related fields and 7-10 years of related professional experience.
  • Master’s degree and/or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related fields with 5-7 years of experience.
  • Proficiency in CAD tools such as Cadence Virtuoso, Mentor Graphics, or Synopsys Custom Compiler.  
  • Experience with physical verification techniques
  • Litho simulation skill is preferred.
  • Scripting skills in PERL, python, or SKILL and familiarity with PNR flows considered an advantage, but not required
  • Familiar with advanced logic and memory advanced process nodes, 3DI integration.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in teams
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to mentor junior engineers.
  • Ability to work across teams.

The physical demands described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This job operates in an office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing is required, which would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 35 pounds. This position also requires 4 to 6 hours per day at a computer screen/keyboard.

Salary Ranges

$136,750.06 - $169,850.01

Individual pay is determined based on multiple factors, including but not limited to location, experience, skills, job-related knowledge, relevant education, certifications, and/or training.  In addition to base salary, we offer (full time regular employees ) a comprehensive benefits package and for certain roles eligibility in our bonus plan and long-term incentives as applicable.  The talent advisor can share more details about total compensation for the role in your location during the hiring process.
