Summary

The Maximo Application Development Specialist is responsible for designing, developing, enhancing, and maintaining application components within IBM Maximo 7.6.x and MAS (8/9) Manage. This role focuses on extending Maximo’s out‑of‑the‑box capabilities through custom applications, automation logic, UI modifications, and configurations tailored to business requirements. The specialist collaborates with functional teams, technical architects, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable and high‑quality solutions that improve asset, work, and inventory management processes.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Develop, customize, and enhance Maximo applications using Automation Scripts MBOs and UI configurations.
• Build and modify Maximo applications using Application Designer, Domains, Conditional UI, Workflow Designer, and Escalations.
• Implement business rules, validations, and automation using Jython, JavaScript, or Java-based extension points.
• Create and customize BIRT reports, KPIs, Result Sets, and dashboards to support operational and analytical needs.
• Perform root-cause analysis and resolve application defects, performance issues, and configuration conflicts.
• Manage and maintain configurations across Development, Test, and Production environments, including migration via Migration Manager.
• Work closely with Business Analysts and end-users to translate functional requirements into technical designs and custom components.
• Provide technical documentation including design specifications, data mapping, process flows, and deployment guides.
• Participate in code reviews, quality checks, and deployment processes adhering to organizational standards.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers and support analysts.

Professional & Technical Skills

• Strong hands‑on experience with IBM Maximo 7.x and MAS 8/9 application development.
• Support MAS 8/9 application components, including Maximo Manage, Health, Monitor, and Predict as applicable.
• Proficiency in Automation Scripts (Jython/Python), Java customization (MBO/MXE), and Maximo business objects.
• Advanced skills with Application Designer, conditional expressions, domains, workflows, escalations, communication templates, and Cron Tasks.
• Experience building and customizing BIRT reports, including parameterized reports and complex datasets.
• Proficiency in SQL (DB2, Oracle, or SQL Server) for data analysis, troubleshooting, and custom development.
• Hands‑on experience with Migration Manager (packages, sequencing, custom objects).
• Strong understanding of Maximo security groups, access control, and application restrictions.
• Experience troubleshooting UI, business rules, reports, and Maximo logs.

Additional Good to Have Skills

• Experience with MAS 8/9 on Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform (OCP).
• Experience with customization of MAS Mobile applications.
• Understanding of Maximo Manage, Monitor, Health, and other MAS applications.
• Exposure to modern DevOps practices (Git, CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments).
• Experience building dashboards using Maximo Start Centers or external BI tools (Power BI, Cognos, etc.).
