Red Hat Product Security is looking for a Product Security Software Engineer to join our global Compliance Engineering team.

Our Vision: 10X compliance and security activities through automation. We make existing tools easy to use and partner with product teams to create new tools when needed.

Our Mission: Create a strategic integration of tools and processes to enable security and compliance activities at scale—allowing 10s of people to do what has traditionally taken 100s.

Our Goals

  • Partner with engineering product teams, compliance teams, and managed service teams to automate evidence collection and remediation for compliance standards for certification of Red Hat managed services.

  • Partner with open source communities and use open source tools as much as possible.

  • Foster a collaborative, high-trust environment where we tackle complex challenges as a team and make sure to have fun along the way.

Our role is open as onsite/hybrid in our offices (Milan, Brno, Waterford, Barcelona, Madrid, Dublin, Cork) or remote in Poland, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Czech Republic, Ireland.

What You Will Do

  • Design, develop, and maintain security and compliance automation solutions using Python or Go, moving projects from ideation through validation.

  • Work directly with compliance frameworks to automate the evidence-gathering process, ensuring Red Hat services meet rigorous certification standards.

  • Apply design thinking practices to architect technical solutions that are user-centric, ensuring security and compliance tools are intuitive for adoption.

  • Take ownership of software at the component level, resolving security issues that cross boundaries and contributing directly to upstream projects to improve the ecosystem.

  • Work alongside cross-functional teams to refine our shared methodologies. We value transparency, respectful feedback, and soft influence through modeling best practices like test-driven development and GitOps.

  • Share your expertise with others through documentation, internal presentations, or technical blogs.

What You Will Bring

  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks and experience using or building compliance tooling.

  • Strong experience with Linux, modern container technologies (Podman, Kubernetes, OpenShift), and CI/CD pipelines.

  • A background or strong interest in product security, including an understanding of how to build secure-by-design software.

  • Desire to expand your contributions  or influence within the open-source community.

  • Ability to work independently within a distributed, multicultural team across multiple time zones.

  • Maintains an open mindset with a proactive interest in collaboratively evolving and improving our team's working methodologies.

  • Ability to articulate technical information clearly and build connections both within and outside your immediate team.
