Maintenance Mechanic

Job Description Summary

Fabricates, installs, and repairs machinery and equipment in industrial establishment by performing the following duties

Job Description:

• Follows safe operating procedures
• Maintain 7S standards
• Performs PM activities as the need arises
• Communicates with co-workers from the previous and following shifts to discuss problems and concerns
• Actively participates in continuous improvement activities
• Reads blueprints and schematic drawings to resolve work procedures
• Operates lathe to grind, file, and turn machine parts to dimensional specifications.
• Repairs and lubricates machines and equipment
• Orders supplies with purchase requisition according to work order assigned through Team Leader
• Closes out work orders upon completion
• Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble
• Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts
• Examines form and texture of mechanical parts to detect imperfections
• Inspects used mechanical parts to resolve changes in dimensional requirements
• Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments
• Repairs and replaces defective mechanical parts.  Installs special functional and structural parts in devices.  Lubricates and cleans parts.
• Starts devices to test their performance
• Records maintenance actions performed in computerized maintenance system
• Completes other tasks within job classification as assigned by Team Leader
• Assist other associates as directed by the Team Leader and / or Supervisor

Required Skills and Education

 Education:

Associate Degree in Mechanical-related field or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or two years related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• ISO-14001 Environmental Management Systems
• Problem Solving
• Fork Lift and Scissor Lifts

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to use Window based applications
• Lockout/Tag out as Authorized User
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Demonstrates ability to act with limited direction
• Strong listening and communication skills
• Ability to lift and move 40 pounds without assistance
• Required to obtain lift truck certification
